Hey all!
I'm Heather and I'm (obviously) new to the MJF Farmgirl Connection. My family and I live in a small town at the very northwest tip of California- about 20 minutes shy of the Oregon border.
My family consists of myself, my amazing husband, 3 terrific kids ages, 11, 2 and 1 and our newest additon to the family due this October!
We currently are only on one acre here but make the most of what we have. We are also currently in search of a larger property to call home, but in our same town. My husband has his own business, a tree service, and I am fortuate to be a stay at home mom. I also have a small side business on Etsy where I sell the quilts that I make. I also dabble in fabric sales! :)
We have chickens for eggs and seasonally have a beef or hog that we keep/raise for food. We're hoping to soon be adding goats into our mix for milk but may hold off on that until we move and instead buy a dairy cow.
We garden and can our fruits and veggies throughout the spring, summer and fall.
We follow in the teachings of the Bible for our lives and with the suggestions of the Weston A. Price Foundation for food.
We're also active in deer hunting and fishing (ocean and river.)

I could probably go on and on but I think I may have said too much already!
I am so excited to be here and be part of such a great group of farmgirls! I'm looking foward to sharing information and gaining knowledge.
Thanks for having me!

Hello Heather,
Just joined over the weekend. Nice to know there are a few girls here in Ca. My husband & I honeymooned in Crescent City, I love the ocean! Everything from Fort Bragg north to Florence in Oregon. We are loggers and work has been VERY slow this summer, hope your husband has kept working!
Oh Leslie is it hot here! I'm in the mountains east of Oroville so here at home not too bad, go to town another story. Cooler weather will be here soon enough!

Hi Heather, and welcome from another Northern CA girl! I'm originally from the Napa Valley (so Hi to you too, Carol!), but have lived just south of Redding for the last three HOT years. I miss the fog. Never thought I'd say that, but it really does cool off the afternoons...don't get that anymore.

I'm a stay at home mom too, but you sound way more adventurous and busy than myself, lol! Congrats on baby-to-be and on living such an amazing life!!

I should have posted this here instead of on the thread from Sparks, NV, but Heather I just wanted to say you live in one of the most BEAUTIFUL places I've ever visited. Crescent City is gorgeous with the redwood forest and the ocean both so close. Welcome to the forum!!

I have lots of grandchildren and always apprececiated it when we knew ahead of time if we were having a boy or girl. Made my shopping so much easier. You should have lots of hand me downs for the little guy. One of my daughter's has three boys and a girl. The last two are boys, so the little one has lots of hand me downs too. Babies are so sweet and you have one just in time for the holidays.

Jenny, I love the little saying in your signature- it totally made me LOL! :)

Sharlet, Yes, we are having a boy. We didn't find out with our last baby but I really wanted to know this time. That will bring our total to 3 boys and 1 girl.
