Hi everyone, I'm new to the computer but have been an avid fan of a farmgirl lifestyle, well since I quit being a hippie. I love my simple and frugal life style.
A bit about me, I am married with one child still home. I work in Labor and Delivery as a RN and find that very rewarding. I have 3 acres, a large garden and a few apple trees. I love to can and use a food dehydrator as much as possible. I have a few dogs and cats and 12 of the smartest chickens you would ever want to meet!! I also have a fox who has been trimming down the flock.
I look forward to hearing from every one and learning from all the farm girls out there.
Any one ever try raising the "dinky donkeys"? That's might be my next addition....looking forward to hearing from you!!!

Welcome Carol! You're going to have a great time here!

My mother was from Missouri and what's left of her family are still in the Jefferson City area. Most have left the farms (sad) and moved to the "city", but you just can't shake the farmgirl loose from them! They all continue to garden, bake, sew, can, etc. My kindred spirits and, we thought, the last of a dying breed. That is, until I found this site and see how many young women are continuing the proud farmirl traditions!

Teresa, Great idea about the donkeys and the fox, I do remember reading something about how protective they can be. That fence is going up faster now! Good to here from you

Lesie, welcome, you live in my home state of Missouri, I am in California now, for 36 years, my late husband was from here, but a good portion of my family is in Missouri. Minny donkeys will take care of your fox problem right quick

Welcome! This is a wonderful place to hang your hat.
Dinky Donkeys sound like a great addition. I'll have to check into those. We talked about miniature horses and pygmy goats, but I hadn't heard of these. I had burros when I was a teenager, Lolita and her son Pancho. They were great fun.
