Hello all, I am new to posting but have enjoyed reading the forum chats for some time now. Although I live in a very urban setting, I have two bantams in my backyard, 4 rain barrels, and a compost bin. Yep, once a farmgirl, always a farmgirl! I am looking forward to getting to know you all!

Thank you for all your warm welcomes! I thought those of you with chickens would be interested in hearing we had a visit from a red-tail hawk today! Yep, even here in a huge metropolitan city!
I usually let my 2 bantys out of their chicken tractor for a few hours each day for sunbathing, scratching, and dust bathing. I stay with them while they run around. They are pretty smart and usually stay under bushes or ferns. This afternoon the yard service next door apparently scared the red tail out of one of the neighbor's oak trees. He left no doubt in any of our minds that he had been stalking my little hens as he silently flew over us only 10 feet above! That is the third time in the last year we have had a hawk close encounter in my backyard.
