Hi Misty. I'm pretty new too. Go to the home page here, and you will see where it says "find a chapter", and follow those directions. If I can do it, you can!! I might be interested in joining the Warrensburg group, I'm still waiting to here from the KC girls. Good Luck, Carol

Welcome to the forum Wende! I love Iowa. My home state until about 22 yrs. ago. All of my family still live there. The corn should be shoulder high by now I'd guess. My oldest son is there right now for a visit with his father's side of the family. So when you're on your way from Kansas City to Iowa yell hi Cheryl's family as you roll through...LOL

I have also tried to contact the same groups with no luck..I may be interested in starting one, with a little help! My sister's name is Wendy, named after the little witch in the Casper cartoon. I will check out the Apron gathering. I have to be up at 4 am tomorrow to be in Topeka by 7, early bedtime for me. My son has a swim meet there. Looking forward to hearing from you again, take good care

Welcome Wende. So glad you've joined us. I have a grandaughter named Kansas. She's 6. I talk alot about her on here. She's a mess.

So do you live on the dairy farm or just visit? I like the Brown Swiss, too. Very beautiful cows. I have milk goats. So I know how it is. I am milking twice a day now. Lots of milk.

I went through KC on my to and from Colorado last Oct. Very busy place. Too much traffic. I was ready to get out of there. I had to call my hubby who is a truck driver for him to talk me through it. Thank goodness for cell phones!

Hi Carol,
Thanks for the welcome!
That's great .. someone close to KC.
There are three chapters listed , but they have not responded to my interest to join.
Sooooo.... we may have to start our own chapter.
What do you think?

Read the post about the Apron gathering. This is the park close to where I live and they have offered a great day for a farmgirl event. It would be in conjunction with the farm fair, but mostly our gathering. The manager said I can plan what I want to do , but she would like to get a grant from the city for extra nice things for it.
Let me know ...

Thanks again and look forward to hearing from you soon and often..
Oh, the name.. It is German. There was an actress in Germany who came to the US and she played in the Green Hornet on TV. There are a few more WENDEs in the world and actually had phone calls for someone tracking one down. LOL Small world.
Take care Carol.

Wende,
I love swiss brown, my 1st experiance with one was when i was about 4, and my grandmas swiss deceided that I needed a bath, needless to say, I was well cuded from head to toe, and i didn't mind at all, LOL.
I agree completly about Kansas City, not a nice place anymore, and The only reason I was born there was because My mom was at a relatives, and went into early labor, babys wait for no one.

Hi Teresa,
Thanks for the Welcome !
Don't you think Brown Swiss have the best personality??
When I first went to the farm they had a cow named "WENDE".. no kidding. I had to see her milk records before I would believe them. LOL

Kansas City is a great place to be FROM. Somedays KC looks best in a rearview mirror.

Take Care.

Welcome Wende!
I was born in Kansas City , Mo, many, many moons ago, and raised on the family farm near Carthage, Mo. My marriage brought me to califonia 36 years ago and to my little peice of heaven. I have a Swiss Brown, named "Molly Moo Cow", amongst many other animals.

Oops.. sorry.. I guess I should write a bit more .
I live in Kansas City, but spent summers in the country visiting my grandparents, cousins, etc.
Now I visit a farm in N.E. Iowa and help with the brown swiss cows. We milk twice a day , take care of the English Shire draft horses and show cows on the weekends at local fairs.
It just feels good to get back to the dirt and drive the tractor even if it is to empty the manure spreader. LOLOL
I went to school in the city, but have always craved the country life. My dogs would love to be out of the city. I have saint bernards and show them in obedience and conformation akc shows.

I joined MJF to help make a difference maybe in my life or in someone else's.

Here's to the farmgril life...
