Hi Everyone!

My name's Heather and I'm located in Knoxville, TN. I've been looking around on these forums for months, so I thought it was high time I introduced myself!

I grew up in Lancaster County, PA, in a very rural area where all my neighbors were Amish, so I've experienced a lot of the very "simple" life. I grew up canning and had summer jobs picking fruit in orchards. I never even tasted what a non-farm fresh egg was like until I went to college (I threw out 2 dozen eggs, I thought they were bad because of the light yellow yolk!).

After college I got a job as a graphic designer in Knoxville, TN. I love the southern mountains, but I miss my home in Lancaster everyday! My goal is to someday move back (I miss my family), buy a few acres and have a small fiber farm. Right now I live in a cottage on a few acres in the middle of the woods with my many gardens (one being a huge herb garden that is my pride and joy) and my two dogs, Marley, a Border Collie and our new addition Ruby, a black lab. I love canning (today I'm canning some lemon jelly, yum!), antiquing, quilting, crocheting and I'm always in an apron. I'm so glad I found Mary Janes Farm, it's right up my alley!

All your posts have been so helpful and fun to read, I can't wait to get to know everyone.

-Heather

Nice to meet you Heather! I have a dog named Ruby too. My Ruby is a little black peek-a-poo and is spoiled and not very friendly. I'm sure your Ruby is nothing like that.

I know! Now I make sure to buy from a nearby organic farm or only get free range organic- that is until I have my own flock!
