Hi,
I am new to this forum stuff. Love the fun things to barter for and read about. I live on the family farm in rural west Texas. Out where the tumble weeds blow. I love animals and have a great variety of them. Horses, llamas, mule, chickens, guineas, rabbits, of course cats and dogs too.. We also have a pet rat(my son's) and 2 parakeets( my daughters). My kids love to watch them with me.
I love Jesus and my country.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of a fun group.

God BLESS America!!

Kathy,
I wish that I could live on a family farm... all of that history right there! I live in a metropolitan area and my "farm" is my small backyard where I have a fish pond, some veggies, and a lot of mosquitos! Stretch those legs my dear and enjoy the freedom!
Woohoo!

Hi Kathy - thanks for the welcome and welcome to you! Sounds like you also keep busy with all your animals...you're right though, a milk cow is a lot of work. We had a Jersey who gave 7 gallons of milk a day and ended up selling her to our friends who have a rather large family. They milk 4-6 Jersey cows a day, sell the milk and then we make a lot of cheese and butter together. We trade my eggs for her milk, it works out just great. A goat is much easier, less milk and you can leave their baby with them if you only want a little milk every day! They don't kick as hard either!!!

Have a great evening! Pam

OO this is so cool. I love reading the nice comments. Hope you are all having a great day. I do have a question about the rat thing. Tapestry, did your rats stay on a surface and not go down? ours will stay in the cage with the lid off.. put her on a bed and she will not go off the side. will stay there all day or night or both.. ( Patrick left her there one day and forgot to put her up.) She is the neatest pet we have ever had. Just like a cat or something. I do not like the tail.. too much like a snake. She is white with red eyes and her name is Hawkeye. we were told she was a he. Have a super blessed evening!

Hello Kathy, just got here myself Tuesday. There are a ton of interesting things to read here, must admit I didn't get much done yesterday, just looked all around here. I've already met some really nice ladies! Good Luck!

Hi Kathy and welcome to the forum! It sounds like you have a wonderful loving family and sweet critters. You'll have to tell your son I love pet rats. I used to have 6 of them at one time. Templeton (my 1st sweet ratty), Romeo, Nipper, Roo, Mischief and Sneakers. Templeton and Mischief were gray/white hooded rats. Romeo was an agouti. Nipper was a dumbo eared Rex and Roo was a top eared Rex. Sneakers was a black Berkshire. I had big cages and hammocks for them. They were so much fun. Tell your son they absolutely love v8 tomato juice and its okay to give it a chocolate chip now and then. It won't hurt it and actually might help prevent it from getting respiratory infections which can be deadly to rats. If he puts V8 juice in a shallow bowl it will scoop it up in its paws and drink it from its paws. Just cuter than heck. I don't have mine anymore. The sad part is they don't live very long. Now I have cats as its just too sad losing my ratties after a couple yrs or so.
