I stumbled on this site when searching for some hints for using my Squeezo Strainer and was delighted. Just the collection of blogs show what a creative interesting group of women you are!
I grew up on a farm and except for college and my first two years of marriage have been rural. I have always considered myself a farmgirl and it is fun to find a group of like mind.
DH and I built our octagon home close to 30 years ago and are continuing to redo, tweek, etc.A lot of energy goes into our mammoth garden and recently started orchard of dwarf fruit trees. Our 3 kids are grown and I joined DH in retirement a year ago after 35 years as a teacher.
Over the years we have had rabbits, chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese as well as our daughters having a business raising cage birds, parakeets, cockatiels, lovebirds and assorted others for pet stores and home sale. At one time we had over 300 in walk-in cages in our basement.
We now have only 5 birds, 3 dogs and two cats to share our home and attention. Since two of the dogs are 10 month old Australian Shepherds that still is a big task!
I am gradually tackling a file drawer of ideas for crafts and projects that I had collected for "when I have the time", but my biggest project love at the moment is woodturning. I took a class late last fall and have made 3 lamps so far and am planning what to tackle for Christmas gifts this year.
