Good morning all!

Happy to be a brand new member of the Farmgirl Connection!

Question - can anyone recommend a dehydrator for home use to preserve our bounty?

Thanks!
Nancy H.

Welcome Nancy! I too have the Nesco...and love it! It only came with 4 or 5 drying trays, but I was able to order extras! Anyway, glad to have you here!

Dear Nancy,
Wow there's more and more of us N. Calif. farmgirls. There is a wonderful looking dehydrator mentioned in Mary Jane's book, the first book she wrote. I always want to order one but haven't yet.

Wow!

How terrific! I'm thrilled for the new camaraderie - thanks so much for checking in.

I don't have a lot of time just now, but I will be touching base a couple of times a week.

I truly appreciate all of your comments on dehydrators - nothing like a recommendation from someone who uses the product.

BTW - I am in Novato with 1/2 acre on Warner Creek downtown, can you imagine? Our goal is to become self-sufficient though we are still learning what that means as both my husband and I have crazy full-time jobs, but we carry on with happiness in our hearts at what this place is becoming over time.

And actually, no, we don't have chickens yet, but they are coming next spring. But Crooked Row Collaborative is the name of my mini-farm, and as a member of the Farm Girl Connection, I thought Clucker would be a good moniker!

Have a wonderful weekend, one and all, and thank you for the warm welcome!

Nancy

Hi Nancy, Welcome!! I was born and raised in Petaluma and Cotati, still have an Aunt in Novato!! I so miss that area. I use a food dehydrator for most of my extra produce, and I love my Nesco electric dehydrator. Great for jerkey too. I just picked up a great book, Food Drying with Attitude by Mary Bell. Again welcome, look forward to hearing from you, Carol

Hello Nancy from a fellow Northern Ca. farmgirl! Welcome! This is a fabulous place, so many great ladies. By your name I would guess you've got chickens! Me to, I love my girls. My dehydrator I bought at Walmart a few years back, it seems to work for just household use, you may need something better if you've got lots!!!

Warm Wishes
Jennifer
