Posted - Nov 06 2009 : 3:39:10 PM Yesterday afternoon while purchasing groceries, my husband bought the Farmgirl Connection magazine for me. He said it looked like a magazine I would enjoy...he was so right! He even registered me to this site last night! He's so sweet! So, a little about me...My husband and I live on a small farm 10 miles from town with 4 beautiful children...3 girls--17 turning 18 this month, 12 turning 13 Christmas Eve, 8 turning 9 Thanksgiving day, and my 3 yr. old son turning 4 in January. My husband and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary on Dec. 2!!! Life has been pretty hectic around here since last August when my husbands father was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away in January and was only 64! But just when we thought things would go back to "normal" my mother who has Alzheimers(and just turned 64 on the 3rd of this month) has been estimated by the neurologist to only live about a year! This terrible disease has really consumed her at such a rapid rate! It has really been hard on my sister and I but not as hard as it has been for my dad! I saw a sign in town yesterday that read "When you're at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on"....I appreciated that!!! On the lighter side, my husband and I both love to cook! He's an awesome cook with great ideas and we both love to experiment. I really LOVE to bake....my sister drove 45 miles for me to bake her some dried cherry scones with an orange glaze...she's too lazy to bake them herself! I am looking forward to baking the dried tomato and basil crackers this weeend!!! They look so awesome paired with the different cheeses, but I cant wait to see how they taste with hummus! I am happy to report that my children love fresh veggies as much as my husband and I do! My oldest daughter could live on salads, my second daughter and my son can both sit down and eat a ton of broccoli and my third daughter LOVES lamb with grilled aparagus!! I consider myself very blessed!!! Sorry to run on so long with this post!! Once again, I'm looking forward to reading about everyone and getting the chance to chat with you fine women! |
