Greetings to all Farmgirls:
I am new to Farmgirl-Sisterhood. After a year of retiring I am still getting use to this part of my life. When I retired I purchased nuerous jeans and the most important thing - a pair of RED cowboy boots. Hey I had to come up with a new look. I let my curly hair grow out, wear my long earings. I love my new look. I have run into people I worked with and they comment that I look great. Hey I lost 45 pounds. So retirement must agree with me. It is nice to plan my day, and it involves having my grand children over for the day. My days include feeding my 5 pet sheep, 3 miniture ponies. I raise chickens for our egg needs. In the spring my hubby and I will plant our garden,(we are already looking at seed catalogs) along with adding new flower beds. I enjoy everyday by planing around my family, hobbies, and making sure I contribute to our community. We live on 10 acres, a change from ranching. I am very fortunate that we can still enjoy the "Country Life". We built our home 5 years ago. I am very fortunate that my husband included a "Dream Sewing Room". I enjoy quilting, crafts, reading, gardening and creating. I am so excited of joining the Farmgirl - Sisterhood. I love the MJ magazine, and look forward to the next issue.

Congrats on becoming a full fledged Sister!! I will be ordering a necklace sometime in the future. I love them! I haven't started embroidering my badge yet, it hasn't told me what to do to it yet!.
I've been to Clovis, had a friend there years ago. Love all the orchards out that way!

Hey:

Today I met one of our "Farmgirl Sisterhood" members. We had lunch and had a nice visit. We are looking into starting a charter in our area. We are thinking a small group would be good. The reason for this - 1 meeting places 2, keep it cozy. We are just starting to kick the idea so I am sure we will come up with a plan I am excited about the plan.

I received my MJ packet. I am excited to get the badge done. I also ordered a back issue of MJ (on aprons) lots of neat articles. Spring is just around the corner - Farmgirls, that means flowerbeds, gardens, weeding, the first tomatoes. Tulips should be blooming in some part of the country, not here. Maybe this year I will get to see the tulips bloom if the deer didn't eat them all. Happy week.

Welcome Viola Your retirement sounds wonderful. What a thoughtful DH you have making you a sewing room. I quilt and sew also but actually love quilting the most, especially the piecing

Hey Ladies: I have enjoyed catching up with you all....Therese, would you believe I grew up in Clovis, CA. I met my husband while serving in the US Army. Never in my life did I expect to end up living in South Dakota. I would not change anything in the world. Hey I wore my "Red Boots" today. Gotta love them!!

Viola,
Red boots!! WooHoo! You and I have something in common. I don't currently own a pair, but years ago I did, got 'em after a divorce. So gratifying, and, yes, a statement. Welcome, and I look forward to learning more about you and what you create!

Hey Viola, we need to chat more often. The more I read of your writings the more we are alot a like. My sewing place above a 3 car garage is still under way. Needing electic and a good stair way to get to it. I am trying to get all my material, yarn, floss, books, machines etc. I alao love to quilt. I plan to make quilts for Christmas gifts this year. Together and set up. At one time and may be still I wanted to sell things on the internet mostly doll clothes. I did them at craft shows and did very well. Now mostly I want to set myself up and do for me for a while then maybe still sell? When I retired I did not do a complete change but I also lost some weight. We also take the grandkids camping in the summer months. still have to get myself and hubby on a good schedule with our retirement. If you remember some of my other inputs to you this year we are camping much of the USA. Keep in touch LIlly

I have not heard from my new found sisterhood lately. We are all so busy working on projects I suppose. I have been working on pillow cases. So far I have made 2 sets and 6 individual pillow cases with colorful fabric. I am making the pillow cases as part of the American Patchwork and Quilting 1 millon Pillow case Challenge. Our local quilt shop is taking part in this challenge. If a person is interested they do not have to go through a quilt shop. I am enjoying making the pillow cases. Enough as to what I am working what are my new found sisters doing out there.

What a great day, dear Farmgirls Sisterhood. I have to share a bit of my day with you all. I have many hobbies, but I love to quilt. Today was the first day of the "Thimbleberry Club" at the local quilt shop. If you can envision 30 some ladies all excited of the new quilt we will start and the anticipation of the upcoming months. It is a sisterhood of ladies, that buy fabric, kits and applaud at all the quilts, projects that we complete each month. The telant that is and will gather each month can only be admired. I love the traditional quilt piecing. I have stated to make bags, and having fun with it. I like to quilt period!!!!Soon it will be spring, and out the door I go to work on my flower beds, garden, check on all the wild flowers that will bloom thru the spring, and summer. We will be getting a new batch of chickens, and turkeys. It should be fun with our new puppy and our chickens. Enjoy your day Farmgirls!!!

Hello Out There Farmgirls:

It is snowing again, in South Dakota, so I thought I would just concentrate on putting my hobbies away and enjoy my grand children. They are here for the day. I made my daughter-in-Law a cloth bag for her birthday. The fabric I used has flip flops on it. Hey I got a great review. My grand daughter - Cami stated "Wow Grandma it is cool". Martha Stewart watch out. Enjoy your day everyone, make sure you take time to sit and have a cup of tea, coffee, water, what ever your choice, just take the time for you.

Hi Viola:

Welcome from WA "The Evergreen State". Sounds like you have found the perfect form of retirement. How could it get any better than grandkids, animals and a garden? I wish I could do the same, but I still have 20+ years of workin' girl left to catch up with first. You should check out the Barnyard Buddies and Garden Gate forums if you haven't already. There are lots of farm girls there with similar interests. Enjoy!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn
