Hello to all, I'm Renda 40 something never been married and sadly no kiddos.

I am from Alabama, born, raised and still here city gal. I know nothing about homesteading but hope to learn. I am looking for a mentor to teach me. I am going to try to grow an organic container vegetable garden(on balcony) this year again. Last year didn't do too well as it was my first time ever gardening this year I hope to do better by growing things I actually like.

I subscribed to MaryJaneFarm magazine but feel overwhelmed as I have rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis with limits me physically and sometimes emotionally.

I feel so out of place here but decided to give an intro anyway. Hope all is having a good week so far.

Renda

Hi Renda and Welcome,
You will love it here and be perfectly at home! I had a container garden a few years ago when I lived in town and it turned out pretty well...two tips...plenty of water, some shade in the really hot part of the day and, ok, well three tips...make sure your pots are big enough.
Take care and let your dreams make you feel good!

Renda, welcome from the Fingerlakes region of NY. I'm glad you joined with us. With a limited income, if you want some seeds, veggie or flower, just ask. I'll bet someone would be happy to share with you.
Have a good day.

Welcome from another Alabama farmgirl I am making the most of life in a subdivision. We worked this weekend moving out sod for a garden and putting it in low places in the yard. I too want to garden all organic in the earth and well as on my back deck. I wish you the best in your gardening. It can be overwhelming but I decided to just slow down and take it one step at a time and enjoy the process. That's how I remember things better anyway.
You are in the right place and so welcome

Thank you all for the very warm welcome. You ladies are a friendly bunch. If I miss anyone please forgive me but will try to comment on couple of posts. Diane I would love to talk with you regading RA whenever you can. Annika I'm on disability too so my income is limited which is a bummer when it comes to purchasing organic food and other stuff. MelMel for me it is a condition of the heart as dreaming is the only thing for me now. Judy thank you for reminding me of being designed by the Creator and your lovely words. Well I think that is everybody but one more thing. What does "stuffin' out of ya" mean? Excuse my ignorance. Renda

Dear, dear Marenda...a BIG Farmgirl Hug to you! Like the other gals have said ...you DO belong here and we can all learn from each other. We all have something to contribute. God just designed it that way! For instance, when one of us hurt because we have physical limitations, or are sick or just have a big, empty hole in our heart....I think it's THEN that YOU will shine your brightest.I sense that you have a LOT of compassion You have more to add here than you think! And we can always use "One More Sister. Welcome Sis!

Awww Renda...I love the phrase Farmgirl is a condition of the heart because Its soooo true. I didnt grow up on a farm or anything close to it but as a kid I LOVED driving through farm country and Loved old houses and so on.The first Time I ever visited Iowa I was pretty sure I`d found Heaven on Earth until I visited in the summer :) ....Us Northwesterners cant take that heat and humidity. We just bought a small Farm about 4 months ago and Im very overwhelmed...the last 2 summers I grew 2 very small gardens at our house in town...alot of trial and errors. You will do great and you so belong in here.I will pray for your physical ailments also.

Have a Blessed day!

God is Great!

Welcome Renda, I'm late on the welcome line, but I'm here to tell you that you are never gonna be out of place here...these ladies will just love the stuffin' out of ya! I am on disability for health problems and tho' they aren't as mobility-limiting as yours, I DO have my days when I feel overwhelmed by how creative and strong all of my fellow farmgirls are. So hop right in the conversations, we are all glad you're here!

Please feel welcome and a BIG hello from pretty, rolling Moscow Idaho =)

A big Wisconsin hay dare to ya Renda! We are so glad you joined us. I too have rheumatoid arthritis and it really is nasty. Eating healthy home grown veggies has helped mine a great deal. There are plenty of farmgirls here that can help you with your garden.
