Hi all!

I have been on the forum, lurking for a bit, but as of the other day, I bought my FarmGirl membership and started a Chapter. yay! I already have 3 girls who are interested.

My husband and I own a 15.43 acre farm in East Texas. We have chickens, guineas, ducks, geese, rabbits and I have some parrots and 3 dogs. We are all about going back to the land and homesteading. We have only been here since October of '08, but we've made a lot of progress, and I started a blog about the whole shebang in December '08. I have been selling eggs to locals and now am working on selling fruits and veggies. I love to garden, draw, craft, sew, cook, can, and learn anything new! Just the other day, I actually butchered my first turkeys! It was a whole new experience for me, but I was so proud to have grown my own meat. (and it's deeeeeelicious, may I add?) Anyway, I love life on my farm and everyday is like a dream here.

I also just wanted to say how much I really enjoy this forum. Everyone seems so very polite and helpful here, whereas on some other forums, people can be downright rude and snippy.

Thank you for making me feel so welcome!

Welcome Amanda. Your blog cracked me up. I could just picture you and the chicken staring each other down. And your explanation of store eggs vs. fresh farm eggs...Egg-cellent! You are a real go-getter. Good for you. Sounds like you have a really nice place to be proud of! You Go Farmgirl!

Thanks everyone! I know I will love it here. I have another interested 'girl' now! As it turns out, a lot of women are wanting to know how to do things that our grandmothers could do :0) Plus, couldn't we all use some 'sister' time, anyway?

And, thanks to everyone who has taken the time to stop and read my blog. I have read a lot of your blogs, too. :0D
