Hi my name is Kendy, I am 30 years old (31 next month) living in Modesto, CA. I found MJ magazine when I was looking for gardening stuff at Barnes and Noble and was totally happy.
While I am a city girl - shopping and art galleries and stuff I have farm girl tendencies. I love the farmer's market, spending time in the kitchen, and I just started gardening. I am vegan (no meat, dairy, eggs, honey) and love trying to create classics with a twist. I am opening a vegan bakery in the future and right now do catering. I love to embroider, create eco-friendly body and home care for personal use, volunteering...My family consists of my boyfriend of 4 years and our 13 year old cat Mar who is a cancer survivor (he has been with me since he was a kitten).

While I may be the only vegan, heavily tattooed girl on this board I hope to find tips and share ideas as well.

That's always the challenge - I've been in the organic foods biz since I was 18 and helping with a friend's organic fruit stand and Spokane has come a long way but it still has a ways to go. One step at a time:)

graciegreeneyes - at least you have people ask for vegan stuff were you live! I am still trying to open up minds here!

I wish you were doing that in Spokane - I run the bakery/cheese department in an organic/gourmet grocery and I always have people looking for vegan stuff!

Sending you a warm Missouri welcome, not vegan, but tattooed also, MaryJane's is the place. I am fairly new myself, and everyone is just so darn nice. I finished my first 2 swaps which I enjoy working on. So sit back, relax enjoy the ride and when you're ready slam on the brakes and jump right in!

Hi Kendy - Nice to have you here. I'm not vegan but I am tattooed, it always surprises people when they see them for the first time as I don't show them a lot anymore, so every spring on the first warm day when I wear short sleeves I get "I didn't know you had tattoos...." Anyhow, it takes all kinds of us I always thought:)

Hi Kendy!

I'm vegan and tattooed as well! I just joined the boards recently, and I don't feel out of place here. Everyone has been really nice so far, and even though the women here represent a lot of different lifestyles it seems like there is a genuine openness and an attitude of acceptance here.

Also, I love that you found MaryJane's magazine at a Barnes & Noble, because that's where I'm working right now!
