Posted - Jul 19 2010 : 3:23:53 PM Hi my name is Tammy I live on 5 acres in the CA gold country. My DH & I have 5 kids ( 31,30,26,25,&20) & 7 grandkids spread across the country from CA to NC.
I grow veggies and herbs, organically for my family. We make soap, candles and herbal conconctions. I enjoy reading, gardening, quilting, hiking, camping and kayaking (pretty much anything to do with nature)
We have a german shephard named MAX and a black kitten ( 12 weeks) named Nala. I found Nala half dead when she was just a couple of days old. I bottle fed, cared and loved her lots. She is spoiled :)
I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Posted - Jul 22 2010 : 2:36:26 PM Hello to everyone,
I live in the very north part of California in a high mountain valley. My husband and I have been married for 36 years. We have always dreamed of living a simple life and becoming as self reliant as possible.. Well we are now living our dream.. 8 years ago we bought 52 acres and are finishing our beautiful log home..Not a kit our home is built from logs chosen and logged by my husband. We live off the grid about 3 miles from the next house YEAH.. Peace and quiet !!! This is the second year of our garden and besides all the ground squirrels it is doing ok.. Great things take time!! I have a flock of the most beautiful hens and 2 roosters, 4 geese and 2 new baby geese that were hatched about 4 weeks ago :) We have 3 Angus cows and rabbits that we raise for food.. We also raise foundation bred appaloosa horses.. We have raised our 4 boys and now have 14 year old twins at home, Austin and Olivia. I had know idea that there was this kind of interest in the simple life until I was shown a Mary Jane's Farm mag about a year ago.. I'm interested in talking to everyone and learning more about what you know about living off the grid, gardening, herbs for medicine and cooking .. I'm looking forward to meeting you.. Vicki
