Trying to keep in simple & country with an every closer urban growth boundry knocking. Closest mental landmarks for those not from here is the Columbia River, Portland Oregon and Mt St. Helens behind me. She's quiet right now. The garden is organic, livestock (horses, sheep, chickens) are content. The weather has slowed down my canning to my dismay. The garden is trying to hard but the sun is waning and Fall rains starting.

Lifes not the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away.

Just a small town country girl, farmgirl, loggergirl, trying to live her dreams. :)

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!!

Laurie, I haven't heard of an active chapter around here, so if you do, I'd love to know!! We've pressed apples a lot~in fact, my sister gave me a press for my birthday this year! It's pretty easy to do and makes the best cider. Our garden didn't do very well this year, so we've been making trips to Sauvie Island on a regular basis~think I may have to head out and get some corn! :)

Hey neighbor Longview is pretty close. I have sent out a few email inq to two chapters listed as local to me but so far no response. I am hoping there is an active group in my area.

Weather has really confused my garden but tonight we had peaches n cream corn frm our organic garden with dinner. Yum! Anyone have experience pressing apples? My trees are pretty full and I can rent a press.

Cannon Beach is a favorite weekend spot for us. The best pizza can be found there at Pizza a'feta. The Johnson Ridge Observatory at Mt St Helens is a must for visitors if they have the time. After watching the movie the curtains open and your looking right into the crater. I remember sitting on a hillside the day she blew and just watched the awesome spectacle unfold.

Looking forward to catching up on the forum topics.

Hi Laurie! I'm a new Farmgirl member from Tennessee. I was up your way about a year and a half ago. We spent one day out at Cannon Beach in Oregon and went to the park at Mt. St. Helens and through Vancouver, WA. It is a really beautiful area.
Welcome!

Hi.. I have strictly meat breed, Katahdin's (hair sheep, no shearing). My horses are lazy eaters and leave so much uneaten in the pastures I wanted something to help balance it all out
