Posted - Jan 23 2011 : 12:03:14 PM Hi all--I always feel sort of silly introducing myself, like you can say anything that tells anyone who you are in a few sentences! Except, of course, I am a farmgirl.
I live on about an acre with the hubster and the stepspawn--The Mad Scientist is almost 16, and the Drama Princess is 12 and a HALF. We also have three cats and a mess of egg laying chickens.
We grow lots of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and some fruit; also lots of weeds, most of which I enjoy almost as much as the cultivated things. When I'm not gardening I'm writing, knitting, or reading, usually. And I noticed someone else, in her intro, said she loved dirt. Me TOO! Fascinating. SO FASCINATING.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you! Thanks for having me.

Posted - Jan 25 2011 : 07:58:04 AM Hey Dianne, I had a coworker who was originally from Roseburg back when I worked in an office, and we're still in touch! I haven't been down that way yet though. 34 acres AND the family land, that is really awesome!

Posted - Jan 25 2011 : 07:44:44 AM Welcome, Michelle; my DH and I live on 34 acres out in the sticks west of Roseburg. I grew up here and am so blessed to live on the same property my parents purchased back in 1956 when I was only a toddler; not the same house though I can still see it through the trees.

Posted - Jan 24 2011 : 07:35:57 AM Hey Kris, Amy, Fiddlehead! THanks for the warm welcome.
You know Kris, my naturopath and I were talking about how our culture doesn't really teach it's children how to eat, and there's so much that's not nourishing available, and we treat food like a conveninence--or more often, an INconvenience--and we're seeing the results of that . . . crazy. And it's sometimes really difficult to view feeding ourselves with gratitude and making it a priority . . . I'm still trying to learn! Some day I'll get there. Thanks for visiting the blog!
Fiddlehead I was in Wisconsin in January once. All I can say is brrrrrrrrr. And I'm originally from Northern Michigan.
Amy Grace, I lived in Portland for a year and a bit, and there were many lovely things about it. Now I live out in the sticks halfway between Portland and the Coast, and I like it even BETTER, though I do miss all the tattoos and piercings on everyone in town!

Posted - Jan 24 2011 : 06:53:17 AM Hey Michelle. Welcome from Georgia. I just went to your blog and you are doing what I have been realizing myself lately. About health and eating right. I have not been feeling well lately. I am 52 now. I have not been eating the best of foods. I go on spurts of eating healthy then get off that road and back to my bad ways. Then I start feeling bad. I do not eat processed foods. Anyway, I hope to read more about your food adventures. And I tootally agree about the chicken broth.
Kris
