Posted - Mar 01 2011 : 5:30:38 PM Welcome Donna,
The other farmgirls are right--you will love it here. So much kind support and sharing.
I live in Maine but I also love California. I lived in Pasadena and then Marin County, just north of San Francisco for a short time. I LOVED it! If I didn't have such a wonderful life and marriage here in Maine I would be right back there.
Welcome!
Karen

Posted - Mar 01 2011 : 5:04:31 PM Grace, Yes, Roding Park is still there, and Story Bookland was renovated a few years back and is still up and running. The Zoo is now called Chaffee Zoo, but it is still there. The Fresno area has changed a lot since Ive been here for about 21 years. There are many new things here in Fresno, a minor league baseball team "The Fresno Grizzlies" a huge shopping center called River Park, And the housing development here has expanded so much we are almost to the town of Madera. haha As you know it gets hot as heck here and Im not looking forward to the summer. So I will be escaping to the nearest pool, lake, or ocean as much as possible. Have a great day. Donna |

Posted - Feb 28 2011 : 6:34:45 PM Hey Donna, & WELCOME! I have an uncle who lives over tween Fresno & Biola,,,,off of Shaw...he is 2nd generation grape grower or as we call him "a Raisin Rancher" lol! As a teen I would help out after harvest,,,my cousins & I would glean behind the pickers....& let me tell you, it was dirty hot work,,,but it was expected of us and besides after several hours we ran down to the river (San Joacine(sp)river) out back of their ranch....so we would go swiming to cool off. Is Storybook Land still there? Rhoding Park Zoo? What about the "Underground Gardens" off of hwy99 & Shaw...? Oh I have some wonderful memories (Port Geogre)of the 'old' Fresno,,,I know it has really grown & changed..... So glad you joined up & now have fun!
