Hi Everyone! I joined last night and discovered today I'm #3632.

I just scanned the lists of members and discovered there's quite a few "gypsies" among us:
gypsy4/5/10
Gypseyfarmgirl
gypsy rose lea
Gypsy Soul
gypsyfarmgrl
gypsygirl
Gypsygirl1
gypsymama
gypsymama22girls
gypsy (9/26/11)

and now me:
Gypsy farmgirl

I thought for sure I'd be the only gypsy...that's what I get for thinking....

Can't wait to meet everyone, especially the other gypsies out there...

Hi Annika..there's nothing plain about the name Annika..it's exotic and feminine and much more exciting than "Susan"...but I chose "gypsy farmgirl" as my user name on a whim because even though I was settled into one spot (south Florida) growing up and well into my teaching career.....once I got married (in my thirties), I was moving around all over the country to go where dh's work would take him.

I feel like a Johnny Appleseed of sorts (only with gardens) because every house I've ever lived in, I've left behind raised beds of vegetable and herb gardens and blueberry bushes and rose covered trellises.

Thanks Nicole,

It's been awhile since I've made jam but we just moved again and..we're revamping our new yard. We took out pine trees and bushes to make room for a garden and a serviceberry tree. I hope to make jam out of the serviceberries if I can get them before the birds.

Wise words Chris..thanks for the pep talk.

Life does have a way of keeping us humble..that's for sure.

I am definitely a list maker myself. Yesterday I went to numerous stores looking for a ready made sprout jar and couldn't find one. I used to use one years ago but no longer have it. It wasn't until I got home discouraged that the sprout jar wasn't crossed off my list that I realized I could just use cheese cloth and a rubber band but I'm still trying to locate the nice and easy screened lid jars. Online sources seem so expensive because they want you to buy the whole kit...

Does anybody use the sprouting trays I also discovered online? as opposed to the jar method? Things sure have changed.

susan--don't get discouraged. i understand how you can get overwhelmed. i feel that way a lot of times--this coming spring i have a huge amount of work waiting for me. making lists helps me stay reasonably close to a track if not exactly on it. just put one foot in front of the other. the process is just as important as the end result--so it doesn't matter how long it takes! chris

Hi Laurie and thanks for the welcome!

Love your quote!!!! It makes me smile every time I see it.

Yes, I already do love it here but it makes me realize how little time we really have and at some point I have to get off the computer and back to living life..fulfilling my dreams and goals and finding those moments that take my breath away, if I'm lucky.

Thank you clumboy..I've been reading about your beautiful dogs in another topic we both logged into. And lol...yes, I read your story about how you got the name clumboy from the dogs..love it...all that frustration with names already taken worked out in the end after all.

I was so motivated the first day I joined I got back into the swing of things and started another separate journal just for this site and badges I might try to get, baked a ham for dinner. The next day I made lentil soup with some of the leftover ham and juices but now today I'm back to reality of realizing I have work to do and things to attend to and a garden to plan for in this new home (old but new to us) that has never had a garden so I'm starting from scratch...and I broke my diet today and started feeling melancholy about all the work that looms in front of me this week.

I will perservere and use the wisdom of the women on this site to guide me through.

Thanks Marilyn!

I'm already having fun just trying to figure out how to get started and still keep things organized and simple..my mind is always going faster than my body...

Everybody is such an inspiration, it's helping me get back to what I used to know and do but somehow got off track...
