No farm. City slicker with domestic skills. Joining because I want to find people like me, I just moved to Maine and am homesick-an online life might help. Also joined in honor of my grandma, Betty June, who made great peach jam. She passed this Sunday and I am on my way back to Michigan now. It's just not how I wanted to go.

I look forward to meeting you!
Heather

Hi Heather!
Welcome to Mjf forums. So very sorry about your Grandma.
Heather, I moved from So Cal to Kansas about 2 1/2 yrs ago. The change was really hard and I was quite depressed. Finding the Mjf mags and forum was the best thing ever!! I have found great friendships here and you will too!!

HI Heather and welcome from CT, So sorry about your grandmother.

I lost mine a little more than 20 years ago and I still pick up the phone to call her. They never really leave us. I can pick up her scent when I am near a rose, or when I bake her favorite spice cookies. One of the things I did, and still do, is whenever I find myself remembering her telling me a story of her life I write it down so as not to forget.

Portland Maine is a nice area. Not too far from great places to visit and things to do. Plus you now have all these great ladies to help pass the time while you adjust to the new surroundings.
One thing you will notice is in New England distance is measured in time not miles. example: from where I live in east ct it takes about 2.5 hours to get to Portland ME., or 2.5 hrs to get to NYC or 2 hrs to Boston MA.

Welcome from Long Island,NY Heather! I am so sorry to hear about your grandma's passing. I am sure you will love MJF and all of the wonderful girls here- and heck- you might even learn a thing or two about "farmlife" and teach us a thing or two about "city" life. We come from all walks of life- hence the saying "Farmgirl at Heart" You dont actually have to live on a "Farm" to feel welcome here!
Smiles,

Heather welcome to MJF. Great people here. Sorry about your grandmother. I lived in Sanford, Maine, for 10 years before moving to Michigan.

Sorry about your Grandma.

When I moved eight hours from my family, and anyone I knew, to the side of a snowy mountain, in Idaho, with a newborn, these ladies saved me.
