Posted - Nov 22 2011 : 7:34:46 PM Hello from central North Carolina where my husband and I are building up a grain and dry bean farm. I am also a potter and work to make traditional forms using traditional techniques such as salt glazing. We do a lot of pickling and lactic fermentation, so I take great pleasure in making pickling crocks. I have a small hope they will find their way back into kitchens for use other than just utensils!I'm happy to be here on the forum, and looking forward to reading about other farm girls!

Posted - Dec 14 2011 : 03:59:52 AM Thank you for the complements on my work and the welcome! I am sorry for my delayed response, I have been firing pottery kilns and trying to get ready for the holidays!
My work is certainly a nod to 19th-century stoneware, as I study historic ceramics and find the 19th-century cobalt decorations FABULOUS!
Kris, it looks like I am almost 7 hours from Chatanooga. It's great that you're interested in the pickling crocks! My hope is for next year before the market season starts, to get some pickling crocks in standard sizes (probably up to 2 gallons) with weights to go inside, and either wood or ceramic lids as add-on options. I do have some in stock if you would like some photos, just let me know and I promise to respond sooner!
Thanks again and happy holidays!

Posted - Nov 22 2011 : 8:22:17 PM Hi Brenda. Welcome from Ga. I just went to your site and I am going to have to egt a crock. I have some cabbage fermenting on the counter right now in a glass jar. It sure would be better in one of your crocks. I love doing sour cucumbers too. So I will be saving some money to get one soon. All your pottery is beautiful. I love the cups and plates. Beautiful work.
How far are you from Chattanooga?
Kris
