Hi Everyone

My mother was gifted with a Mary Jane's Farm subscription and has shared the past two issues with me. (Bummer--she wants them back *winks*)Oh my goodness! What a fun and beautiful magazine- even the ads are beautiful!
I love learning how to do things the Old Way. Simple living. Healthy cooking. But also oooey-gooey nasty comfort foods on occassion.
My zeal ebbs and flows for each project- whether it be dairying, gardening, food storage, hand crafts, but I love learning!
This seems like a great place to be for a Jill-of-all-Trades but Mistress of None to find inspiration and encouragement for whichever cycle I find myself in.
We have an engraving/award/trohpy shop that I help my husband with. I'm teaching our 14 year old at home and getting ready to be a grandma for the first time this May. (Can't wait!) Still have a college student "at home" too, but he doesn't need or want any mothering anymore, which is a good thing, of course,(Creeeepy otherwise) but the Empty Nest shadow looms ominously over me. I can't imagine wanting to punch a time clock to fill in the days when my chicks all fly the coop, so I am looking forward to the time I will have to hone all of my hodgepodge of interests and skills into something that might be profitable somewhere down the road.
Vague, yes?
Lucky me! I am in the middle of a bad cold and have some time to loaf around and peruse this forum. *grins*. Am I the only one who relishes a yearly "crud"? Time to read...time to nap...time to surf the net. Guilt free.
I look forward to getting to know you. I'll try to not be the Lurker I usually end up being LOL...(message board time comes at a premium for me)
Have a cozy evening!

Thank you for the welcome, Amy Grace, Kim and Laurie :-)

No Marilyn, I don't think we are even a dot on the map LOL. The area is growing though and we're feeling pretty hemmed in, so are working on selling out in order to move somewhere where we have more elbow room. (And more water so we can be more farmy Yay!!)

Hope you all have a great day.

Danielle, I think I do know where you are talking about now that you describe it...but it doesn't show up on my map. My grandparents and my mom were born in Bisbee but they moved to WA when mom was in grade school. My grandmother moved back to AZ and settled in Sierra Vista in 1993. She passed away a few years ago but I still have several relatives that live in the area. We visited AZ several times while I was growing up. I have been to all but two of the National Park units in AZ over the years. The last time I was in AZ was about 4 years ago. My favorite area to go bird watching near you is the San Pedro Riparian area. Since I normally visit during the fall/winter the cottonwood trees along the river are gorgeous.

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn and Kris. I'm feeling better already, Kris....it's way too soon...I haven't even scratched the surface of this site yet!

Marilyn, if you have been to Sierra Vista you probably passed right through Whetstone. There's an intersection with a gas station and everything else that consists of Whetstone is kind of spread out. Have you spent much time in AZ?

Hi Danielle, welcome to MJF! I'm sure you will fit in quite nicely here. Whereabouts is Whetstone AZ? I have relatives in Bisbee, Morenci, Sierra Vista/Hereford and Prescott. Today it has been snowing here in the Seattle area.

Cheers! ~ Marilyn
