Posted - May 12 2004 : 11:45:47 AM Hi there, This is my first post and visit to this site. I love it! I am a techno phobe/idiot, so please bear with my errors :) I have an eighty acre farm that we are raising patured all natural chicken pigs and goats. We would like to raise cattle too but don't have the capital just yet. I do housekeeping to pay the bills while I trying to establish a customer base. My husband is usually gone 8 months out of the year working as a software engineer, so it's just the kids and I running the farm. We hope to be a good enough financial situation by next year to farm full-time. Funny; we said the same thing three years ago! :) Anyway, I'm sure I've already bored ya all to death, so I'll just reiterate that I love this site! :) Thanks Mary Jane and crew for being such motivators! Posted - May 16 2004 : 12:57:03 PM Hi Brenda, welcome!
I will be another one of those "running the farm by myself" gals soon. We are moving onto our 40 acre farm in less than a month. Even though my husband won't be gone as often as yours, he is not much of a farm boy, so it will be up to my kids and me.
I also plan to raise pastured, all-natural chickens, pigs, and goats, in addition to a huge organic garden.

Welcome! And good luck running the farm with your husband gone so much -- I am *very* impressed with your ability to do so. Don't worry about making mistakes here; we all do! Just let us hear from you often. Where are you located?
Best,
pj
