Posted - Jul 28 2016 : 09:32:22 AM Hey ladies... just dropping in to say hi! I'm an old member, but I haven't been on in years. We've just moved closer to the country after 5 years of being stuck in sunny So Cal city living. So happy for some fresh air and a little more space to live than before! I'll be hanging out in the garden, sewing, cooking threads for sure...some of my favorite hobbies. I have a 1 year old who keeps me on my toes from sun up (son up??) to sun down, so while my posting may be sporadic, I'm excited to rebuild some connections here whilst rebuilding a bit of country and community in 'real life'. :)

Posted - Aug 13 2016 : 6:18:58 PM Welcome back, Jody. I am relatively new myself. Sometimes life just gets in the way.....I swear I'm going to embroider that on a sampler! I think we could all hang that one on our porches! I'm not too good on navigating this site yet, but I'm trying, and I bet if I don't give up, I will have many new friends by the end of the year. This is a bunch of wonderful, encouraging friends for sure!

Posted - Jul 29 2016 : 11:18:24 AM Thanks all for the warm welcome!! <3 It's good to be back!
Marsha, I can't imagine living across from a rock band...what a crazy experience! I imagine you'd have to get some good earplugs to use from time to time lol. We still aren't as far out of the city as I would like...still within city limits, living on a pretty small lot, but the difference here is that we can actually get to 'nothingness' and farming communities within minutes. Also, city ordinances are much friendlier than in California, and here we have a yard, rather than a condo patio. So things are definitely looking up. :) I'm trying to convince my hubby to go all 'urban farm' on it, and till up all the sod and turn our whole lot into a garden. My plan is to just ease into it...take over one little corner at a time, so he doesn't realize what's happening until it's too late. :P
Sylvia, we're familiar with the Kent area! Both my husband and I have lived in Western Washington...we're currently on the eastern side of the mountains, but we love it over there. Jealous of your access to the ocean! :) That's one thing I'll miss about CA...about the only thing. While I sew, I'm pretty new to quilting, but would love to get into it more. I'm still working on my son's baby quilt...over a year later lol. It's an amazing art form though!
Krista, aren't little boys just the craziest thing?? I never knew my life was missing so much before he came along... now I see how much truth there is to 'mama's boys'... my whole heart wrapped up in this little guy, and boy howdy, does he keep me on my toes. Sometimes I wonder if I truly have the energy to survive toddlerhood with him lol. But being a mama is the best there is. <3

Posted - Jul 28 2016 : 10:33:05 AM Congrats! on being a Mom! I would love to move the country myself. I am planting seeds in the mind of my DH of how nice it would be to have fresh air and quiet. We have a rock band across the street that plays every day. lol They are a nice bunch of guy and gals but the traffic coming and going all day and night 7 days a week in a neighborhood is a little much at times.
How do you like being in a new state? I see Washington is that where you are now?
