Posted - Mar 23 2007 : 9:32:13 PM Hello everyone! I've been reading such great things about this forum on so many blogs that I came over to check it out. What a great place. I already know a few of you from blogland and I'm hoping to get to know more of you. We live in the beautiful Ouachita mountains in Arkansas on property that my great grandparents homesteaded. We've been here seventeen years and it is still a work in progress. I've been married 24 yrs and have two daughters in college. We used to raise goats but haven't had a real 'farm' in a few years. Right now our livestock consists of three cats, one dog and four chickens--we are planning on expanding!

Posted - Apr 01 2007 : 6:37:51 PM Thank you all for the warm welcome--you are a great bunch. I guess I should have included in my intro that my hobbies are quilting, reading, herb gardening--I'm new at that, and I also enjoy writing when I get the time.

Posted - Mar 24 2007 : 9:47:12 PM I don't know that I could truly trust a person who dosn't like goats...I think they are so clever and sweet. Even though I have my wonderful milk cow now (couldn't trust someone who didn't love HER either..heehee) I will always have at least one goat..right now my little angora doe named Pearl. I have so many relatives who came from Arkansas (and Oklahoma too) and sure hope to visit there someday. My grandma moved with her family to Calif from Arkansas during the depression and never lost her accent..she died at 90. I love it.

Posted - Mar 24 2007 : 12:21:53 PM Thanks for the nice welcome, everyone! Big waves to Bonnie and Mikki Jo--you are great blogging friends! Laura, my goats were mixed breeds-Nubian and others, but I did milk them and we loved the milk! I'm far from a goat expert, but I love the sweet things!

Posted - Mar 24 2007 : 11:42:25 AM Welcome, RoseMary. Know you are going to love it and the women who are here. I raise goats and was wondering what kind you use to raise. Maybe you could share some of your insights on goats to us goat herders. Laura www.2lmzfarms.blogspot.com 3barrels,2hearts,1passion |
