Posted - May 19 2007 : 10:57:22 AM Ok, so I have been working on soap for the last week for an herb festival that I was supposed to be doing and have tons ready to go as there were to be 2,000-3,000 attending. In the midst of all this I was in the hospital for a bleeding ovarian cyst that I thought had done it's thing and I would just get better. Well, I started feeling worse the other day and yesterday an ultra sound showed that the cyst has been growing and is about 6.5cm now and may require surgery. I have to take it easy and rush to the hospital if anything worsens. So, anyway, I'm sitting here with all this soap that needs a home.
I've decided to run a sale from now until the 31st of May. All of my soaps will be 4.50 each or 4 bars for 16.00. Everything is listed on my etsy store. You can e-mail me to let me know what you want. I'll keep you posted as to when I run out of something.
Hope everyone is having a blessed weekend!!

Posted - Jun 01 2007 : 10:43:41 PM When my daughter was a freshman in high school, she had this nagging pain that kept getting worse and worse until she was really feeling terrible. I took her to the local hospital ER and they said she had an ovarian cyst and gave her pain killers and sent her home. The next day she was much worse so I took her to Olympia to my gynecologist. He did an ultra sound and put her right in the hospital for surgery. What had happened, which I think is really bizarre, was that her ovarian cyst was on the top side of her ovary and grown quickly and gotten really heavy. It got so heavy that it pulled the ovary over and put a kink in her fallopian tube. The ovary couldn't get any blood supply and gangrene had set in. They had to remove the ovary and the fallopian tube. Hard to believe gangrene can still be a problem in this day and age. |

Posted - Jun 01 2007 : 6:44:04 PM You weren't getting personal at all. I'm also a nurse so talking about this sort of thing is no big deal for me.
Thanks for your encouragement!!

Posted - Jun 01 2007 : 5:51:33 PM Hey Missy Thanks for getting back to me. I am sorry to hear that you have to go ahead with the surgery. I know that must have been hard to hear. Thank you for sharing. I hope you didn't feel uncomfortable with my asking. When I had my surgery the first time I had 7 cyst on one ovary 5 on the other one being the size of a grapefruit another an orange. But not an absess, so I was wondering the difference. I apologize for getting to personal. I will keep you in my thoughts this weekend and Monday. Make sure you get plenty of TLC and take your time.

Posted - Jun 01 2007 : 4:21:50 PM Hi girls! Not a good day today. I've been running errands, etc and trying to get caught up on things before my surgery on Monday morning. I'm having a lot of pain this afternoon and finally broke down and took half a vicodin. I just hate that stuff but it does knock out the pain. Thanks so much for thinking of me!!
mandi- My pain was sudden and was the same that I had years ago, but what threw me off was that I felt really bloated. We had eaten mexican the night before, so I didn't get terribly concerned other than I was incredibly uncomfortable and felt "full" up to my sternum. It finally got so bad that (sorry to get graphic) i was having difficulty urinating. I finally said something to my Mom and Patricia and they gave me no other choice than to go to the hospital. A CT scan showed that I had been hemorrhaging into my abodomen all day and by the middle of the night had lost so much blood they were going to do surgery and a transfusion. I was in my room alone and just prayed my heart out. The next blood test showed that the bleeding may have stopped and the one after that actually showed improvement. God is so good!!! The cyst is a little smaller than a baseball and I guess once they get to that size, they don't usually go away on there own. She's hoping to save my ovary, but it's not a gaurantee.
sorry for posting all this here, but I wanted to answer questions. As women it's important for us to share these things so that we can take good care of ourselves. My situation could have gotten very serious and what I share may help someone else!!
I got quite a bit of soap sold and sent out the last order today. What a blessing. I'm so thankful for my farmgirl sisters!!!!!
Love and Hugs

Posted - Jun 01 2007 : 12:53:12 PM I hope you are doing better Missy. I don't normally put myself out there like this or highjack threads. But I was wondering how you knew it was bleeding. I have had ovarian cysts every month(except when I was pregnant or on birth control) since I was 13, and have had the surgery once. I was wondering how you discovered it was bleeding? I guess how it felt maybe? I think I have them on both sides, this last week has been so stressful. They don't feel like they did before. Anyway I was just curious...Sorry for the highjack...
