Posted - Jun 11 2007 : 9:11:21 PM Hi Ladies!
I think my mom is a wonderful artist. She sells her paintings and monoprints locally. She also does things like stained glass, pottery, sewing, craft baskets.
Do any of you buy watercolor paintings and such? Is there a farmgirl market for her art? I will be taking some pictures over the next few days so you can see her "hand". If there is a market for it, I will open and Etsy shop for her, but I would love to hear your opinions first :)
Thanks! You ladies are the best!

Posted - Jun 13 2007 : 8:54:45 PM I do not usually buy large pieces but I have on occasion bought small pieces (8x10 or smaller). I love to buy cards though. I would love to see your moms work.

Posted - Jun 13 2007 : 7:05:40 PM A suggestion for ETSY... If you do an ETSY shop, stick to one thing or a couple of related things... like just the artwork and prints, maybe some smaller versions of the art (notecards or something small, like mini pictures.
In the beginning, if you have too many different kinds of things in your ETSY shop, it sometimes diffuses the effect and makes it harder to sell.
You can always add other items later on...

Posted - Jun 13 2007 : 10:36:42 AM My mom is taking the afternoon off today, so perhaps we can get some nice photos taken and posted! I am so excited!
She says for the baskets she would have to take special orders. But maybe if she has one on hand we can take a picture so you can get an idea of what we are talking about :)

Posted - Jun 13 2007 : 08:28:09 AM I do buy oil paintings and water color art...especially landscapes and farm scenes. Flowers, too.
Please post photos--there are so many talented folks out there!

Posted - Jun 12 2007 : 08:41:14 AM Right now what she has is some really beautiful cards that she made. They have a picture of fresh flowers on them. Pansies in a heart and such. I really need to get some pictures taken to show you all :)
I think we are going to do it. I have begged and borrowed enough of her artwork to fill my apartment and it always makes it feel even more homey!

Posted - Jun 11 2007 : 9:47:15 PM Oh you should!!! My mom does oil painting and I love her work..it is fun to see your mom find her creative niche! I know I would be interested in baskets for sure. Never enough baskets here for me!! I don't have much wall space (LOTS of windows and not alot of wall space in this old house) but I would be interested if she sold baskets for sure!
