These are wonderful for your period or postpartum when the last thing you want against sensitive skin is a toxin soaked paper pad. They are washable, reusable and earth friendly- plus you are not buying your menstrual products from corporations run by men!!!

If I still needed these I sure would be placing an order. Rarely is our tv on during the day, but this aft it was on and "How It Is Made" came on. It showed a manufacturing plant making disposable pads. I was shocked at the waste. Large rolls of sandwiched cotton and plastic lining rolled along this conveyor belt. A large die cut out the pads in the obvious curvy shape and all the trimming around it went to the trash. Appalling, particularly when they said they create a pad every four seconds.

I have never had any leaks with these, even with postpartum bleeding and they have softened with each passing year (they are very cozy to begin with). I prefer the medium thickness but I encourage every gal to try all three before ordering a bunch since our bodies and panties are all unique;) Sometimes I pre-soak them in cold water and then throw them in the wash (some gals swear by using the soaking water for their houseplants!) but I usually just set them aside and wash them with cloth diapers. when I travel I wash them with castile soap in the sink and hang them to dry.
I am nursing as well and wouldn't you know it my cycle started again just three months after having Jack! If you need nursing pads I make organic french terry fleece pads that are fabulous...

Shawna...I can totally recomend these! I bought I think 12 total pads from Rebekah at least a year ago..may be closer to two years now...and they have held up really well and work great.

i am very interested in these. i never even knew that women used their own until very recently. would like info on how they hold up to leaks and cleaning. i din't need right at moment because i am breastfeeding, but will need some later. (you can email me if you don't want to talk about it here)

Heather- There are three in a starter set (one light, one medium and one nighttime- you could also ask for all mediums for instance. You should be able to see them if you go to my etsy store (follow the red link below;)...I will try to post a pic here as well. Thanks for keeping them in mind for when your cycle returns- they can be goofy can't they;)

I'm not seeing them, could you tell me how many you get?
I do WANT some, but I don't know when. Right now I don't want to buy them, because I haven't had a period in a year. I'm only 31, so I'm sure it will be back, but last time it was about 4 years that I went with out one. So....I am going to wait and see if it ever comes back. If it comes back, I will deffinately buy them! But, I would like to know how many you get for the 18.00? |
