Ok Farmgirls, confession time here. I loathe valentine's day...lots of baggage that for some reason I refuse to discard. This is the year I am going to celebrate it with joy. I decided to go ahead and make some special cards that combine 2 of my favorite things; letter writing and fabric.
Just a little FYI: all the lace you see is from Miss Wilma. Some of the cards have card stock for writing while others have a piece of fabric. The latter offers a really nice effect. They also come with pockets either on the outside or inside or both..you can add a little something special; an herb sprig, a flower, a rolled piece of parchment, whatever you want..The smallest one doesn't have any pockets..it is just a sweet simple little card. The pictures you see are the outside and inside of the cards. The larger ones are 8.00 each and the small one is 5.00. Let me know what you think!
Many happy regards, Julia

Amie, Thanks!! This was SO not my idea.. I'm a complete copycat here..I was inspired by the work of another textile artist whose work was published in a magazine. I loved the idea too and especially love that it is yet another way to use up scrap fabric! I also love that anyone can make them and they'd all be completely different since everyone's fabric choices and styles are different. It's very fun indeed and the possibilities are endless! Have a gorgeous day! ~julia hayes

What a great idea, Julia. They're a card and a present combined. A Valentine's stocking, so to speak.

You should make these every year!

It's YOURS!!! You are the ALL TIME B.E.S.T!! Do you want the pheasant feather too? or some other feather for the pocket? I can cut the tip so it's like a pen for fun..forget it, I'm just going to do it!! Bella's dress...yes I know!! So fabulous!! Having her in MaryJane's calendar in a dress I made from a pattern my mother in law gave me is just too much!! I'll mention that the background fabric is scrap from the very first dress I made and still have and still wear..The vintage butterfly button was given to me by my sister in law a million years ago and was just waiting for the right thing! I'm so happy it is going to live at your house!!

I'm off to tuck the kids into bed and then get the list of fairy blessing bags to you!! You have totally put skip into my heartbeat!! I'm all giggles!!

There are no words-really! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put the one with the butterfly in my box- Erik will LOVE it- it has the fabric from Bella's dress and will fit a new pen for him (he is a writer) in the pouch perfectly;)
Warmly, Rebekka

Julie, thank you so much! Just to be clear, do you like the one with the vintage heart button? It is 8.00.. I'm not set up to do paypal yet but am in the process of getting my Etsy store up and running. I just finished taking photos of the little girls dresses I have and will add some other things (women's dresses and boys clothes)and then set up a paypal account then.. It feels a little daunting...I am totally open to trading too!!

A little more description on that one: Again, the lace is from our beloved Miss Wilma! The very bottom of the card is from a vintage petticoat I salvaged and the inside white cotton fabric is scrap from a sundress I made. It is a beautiful white eyelet sundress that is fully lined. It is definitely one of my all time favorite dresses. It will be up for sale in My Etsy store soon. It fits a "medium" sized woman! The little strip of brown floral fabric on the front is actually pleated and is also scrap from a sweet little fairy doll I have hanging in our guest room that we call "the fairy room". I'll add that the inspiration for making these cards actually came from my sister in law who sent me this wicked cool magazine about sewing art. In it was a feature article about fabric cards. I fell completely in love with the idea. This particular card is very girlie and flowy!
I would be so thrilled to send it to you.. Feel free sending me an email with your address..

You have no idea how you have just made my night!
Many warm regards, ~julia
