ALL THE LITTLE GIRLS HAVE BEEN ADOPTED AND ARE HEADED FOR MAINE!

THREE LITTLE RAG CHILLUN wandered into the Foundlin' Home last evening about suppertime .. they were dressed in 'rags' and Sister Mercy told them to check the 'missionary box' for fabrics and she would make them dresses and aprons. They tackled that box like it was full of chocolate! Loving 'lively colors' .. they mixed and matched, picked and chose .. until they each had fabrics they loved and that they might all look somewhat alike (they are close and true friends).

They laid the fabrics neatly beside the olde treadle sewing machine .. and got in warm nighties with cookies and hot chocolate. (they are alone here at the Orphanage .. because all the other chilluns caught yesterday's train to head for their new homes). But they stayed up late giggling .. and when Sister Mercy heard no more 'whisperings' .. she lovingly gathered the gay colored fabrics and treadled and hand-sewed each stitch with love until they each had a very special new dress and apron. She even sacrificed a lovely olde curtain from the parlour to make them very special linen and 'tatting' petti-slips!

OH THE DELIGHT and squeals when they each awoke and found their dresses hanging from the footboard of their beds with a sweet name-tag.

they quickly dressed and danced down the staircase .. twirling and whirling about as if they were at a debutante ball! Sister Mercy just peeked from the pantry and smiled.

Janie, Jeanie and Junie are so hoping that a momma will love them and their new fun outfits and adopt them soon. OH PLEASE .. do let them write to one another so that they might remain FOREVER FRIENDS.

Their adoption fee and train fare is onliest $20. for each dolly.

JANIE .. JEANIE .. and JUNIE could hardly keep from wiggling with glee when they had their photo took at breakfast-time!

this is JANIE

JANIE'S SWEET LITTLE FACE .. and her demeanor is very gentle too.

JEANIE .. is two years older and slightly tallker than the other two friends. She is very much a 'care-taker'/

JEANIE'S DARLING FACE UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL.

JUNIE is the shy chile'. she often hides behind Jeanie's apron.

JUNIE loves her olde colorful button necklace and blue hankie tucked in her pocket

a closer look at one of the chillun's button necklace and hankie.

if you fall in love with one of the chilluns .. jus' e-mail Sister Frances Catherine with your FULL NAME .. ADDY . .and which dolly tugged at your heartstrings.

JEANNIE DEAR .. all the little sisters got adopted by a momma in Maine .. but anytime you see a dolly you like .. jus' let me know .. and even if she came to the orphanage with a name .. she won't mind a new one from her new momma.

true story: i adopted a little two year old girl .. her name was LISA LYNN .. i changed it to KRISTEN SUZANNE

.. i started calling her lisa kristen .. then kristen lisa .. then i slowly dropped the lisa when she responded to kristen .. sooo .. rag dollies wouldn't mind doing the same.

be watchin' cuz' more dollies will be arriving at the foundling home before long! xo

Well, since one is named Jeanie, which is almost my name, I am partial to her. I showed her to my granddaughter yesterday on the computer, and she thought she was cute.

It seems a crime to split the girls up; will Jeanie be able to leave the other two?

I am fond of them all.. I am thinking about getting my mom, mil, and sisters dollies for Christmas this year.. my mil would love the blackies.. and 1 sister would like the darker country colored dresses, 2 others are into shabby chic- pinks, sages.. so I will be keeping my eyes open through the summer and early fall.. I like them all.. I especially like the ones with the vintage quilts for aprons.. the lighter colored ones are pretty too..

thanks dearheart .. i'm gonna' take some fabrics with me to ohio and cut out LOTS more dollie bodies!

does anyone like the little 'black chilluns'? actually. they are my FAV to make! i have some cut from a very olde shawl (could even be amish!!) .. i buy black victorian piano shawls, amish shawls and casket covers whenever i can find them for my dolly bodies. would NEVER cut one in good condition though! and sometimes the 'fringe' on these makes the BEST black dollie hair!

i might make some black chilluns soon. xo

THANKS SWEETIE PIE. some of the gurlfrenz sed they preferred more 'lively colors' to the somber primitive shades ... sooo .. when i was in maryland on my last trip .. i stopped by Cottonseed Glory .. a MAGNIFICENT quilt shoppe with a larger selection of FINE fabric that i have ever seen ANYWHERE! The owner is an olde friend. I gathered a few bundles of 'light and lively fat quarters for these little outfits.

i do so love makin' dollies.

(i'm back from the doc .. WOWZER .. was THAT ever an ordeal! .. but all is 'well below' .. soooo .. i'm a happy camper!)

i treasure our friendship my friend. xoxo
