Posted - Jan 30 2013 : 05:24:49 AM I work in fast food. Going from dish water to cold frigid drive thru has done a number on my hands. I put some bag balm on them and put socks over them when I went to bed last night. Has helped some. Will have to again tonight. '

Posted - Apr 07 2013 : 4:29:53 PM When I was a working gal, my profession was a floral designer and I constantly had horrible cracked and bleeding fingers. I tried everything, and couldn't find a thing to help. The DR. suggested Eucrin and it helped a teeny bit, but still had the painful problem. Fast forward to the past 6 yrs and living on a farm/ranch with even worse hands here in dry Colorado! I have the problem year round now. BUT, just 3 weeks ago I started using O'Keeffe's Working Hands, and it is the answer to my prayers!! I can rub it into the cracked or bloody split area at bedtime and over night it is sealed up! It's not completely healed up, but I don't need to wear bandaids and by the second day it is healed. I got our jar at Lowes, but I've also seen it at True Value Ace. It's only $6.95 too. I hope this helps, cause it sure has changed my life! I can even paint and draw again!!
Hugs, Lu

Posted - Apr 06 2013 : 10:06:07 PM Shea butter is the only thing that I've found that helps. I have very dry skin and my hands and feet are miserable unless I use shea butter

Posted - Apr 06 2013 : 7:54:27 PM Lorena are you able to wear little clear plastic gloves. Like exam gloves but the ones that are for fast food preparers. I think they use them at Subway sandwich places. It would probably take some getting used to but.... Laura

Posted - Feb 12 2013 : 11:09:42 AM actually beeswax is antibacterial as well, so it's probably helping in the healing as well.

Posted - Feb 12 2013 : 10:28:54 AM I recently tried (and somewhat failed) to make a comfrey salve. What I got instead was a comfrey/beeswax bar. I have been using it as a lotion bar, and it's been working great. The comfrey heals all my little nicks and scrapes that come with working with my hands, and the olive oil, and bees wax help smooth my skin as well. Next time I make the salve, I will use half the amount of beeswax. Just goes to show that sometimes failures are always failures! haha |

Posted - Feb 09 2013 : 6:32:44 PM You must try Sunflower Oil. It really did work for me my hands would be so bad they would bleed the bottle is about 6 dollars or so but really worth it. I now use it all over my arms and legs. You can also warm it just a small amount will do. good luck!

Posted - Jan 30 2013 : 4:53:00 PM Sometimes in winter I use pure lanolin on my hands. It protects and heals. Some people are allergic to it but I've never had a reaction to it. Cindy
