Posted - Dec 21 2010 : 9:55:37 PM I was diagnosed today with vocal cord dysfunction. It makes you feel as though you cannot breathe. After 2 trips to the hospital I am glad to know what it is. I could sure use some good thoughts and prayers to get us through this. Its terrifying when it happens. It also doesnt seem to go away and the difiiculty in breathing comes and goes in waves.
Has anyone else even heard of this? |

Posted - Jan 28 2011 : 04:54:06 AM Hi Robin, I am just seeing your post about Vitamin B Complex - I take Natures Bounty at the moment. I think I usually get Natures Own, the bottle has two green leaves on it :) ! Dave has Sleep Apnea really bad. He just got a new machine which is great. He has trouble with the masks. Still has not found one he likes and I think he has tried them all! I wish you the best with your cpap, because it will make all the differece to how you feel. The nights Dave does good, he feels so much better then next day. Give Nigel hugs from me - he has a little something on the way. Hugs and prayers, Ruth

Posted - Jan 27 2011 : 7:57:59 PM Well according to the speech therapist, I speak pretty well. She has been able to show me exercies to relax the throat. Still take a lot of effort. I do have the dx of sleep apnea officially. I get a cpap machine tomorrow. I hope this goes well. It wasnt hideous in the sleep center, but I know all night every night will take some getting used to.
Thanks everyone for your prayers! |

Posted - Jan 19 2011 : 07:19:05 AM Robin, I know that sleep apnea is very prevalent it seems. Have had many friends do the sleep studies and begin treatment wearing a CPAP mask. Their chief complaint however was snoring. Also, hiatal hernias can cause stomach acid to slip up into the throat and burn the surrounging area over a time. I'm sure that with all the petitions to the Lord, and with the doctors knowledge, a good resolution will be found for you. Hope your husband is doing better. I'm sure all this stress doesn't do you any good. I will continue to pray for specifics for this week. Bless you my dear!

Posted - Jan 15 2011 : 4:49:22 PM Ruth, What kind do you take? I take half a super food B. When I took a whole tab it made my kidneys hurt. Maybe I should try another kind. Nigel is better although on the new meds he had a good 2 months and is now talking about his tummy hurting. I need to get him back to the Dr. I dont know if he just wants to stay home or what. Its been tough since Christmas break ended for him. Thanks for the prayers! |

Posted - Jan 15 2011 : 06:24:44 AM Oh Robin, Please take good care! Will be praying for DH also! Glad Nigel is doing good. Is his tummy getting better? I take Vitamin B Complex for anxiety, it really helps me! It will take a couple of weeks before you see a difference, but it won't hurt to try it. I know if I run out of it, after about two weeks I really feel the difference! Just bought a new supply yesterday :)! Not being able to breath has to make you anxious, so scary. hugs and prayers, Ruth

Posted - Jan 14 2011 : 1:13:43 PM Robin, for some reason, I did not pick up on your problem. So, I think I will pray double-time to try & make up. I can't imagine what you are going through. It sounds pretty terrifying. Sounds like you have some specialists who are helping you. If they haven't found the total answer, I pray that the Lord gives them wisdom to find your cure. I echo Ruth in asking for updates..especially if symptoms, treatment change etc, so we can keep up and pray more specifically for you. Many blessings for you!

Posted - Jan 14 2011 : 09:37:41 AM Thanks for the prayers. I am still being seen at National Jewish. Breathing troubles come in waves. I can be fine for a few days then it flares up again. I am learning breathing exercises, but some days they dont help much. I am working on anxiety issues which makes a huge impact on the breathing. Lots of appointments coming. Thanks for the prayers! |

Posted - Dec 29 2010 : 09:23:44 AM Prayers are on the way. Having trouble breathing is so frightening. It is true that some doctors/ therapists/ etc don't have the personality for the job. It may just be that you were in a stressed state and a relationship may work out when you get to know each other better. I'm hoping therapy can help and you won't need surgery, but I'm sending prayers that whatever needs to be done will be, and soon! Susan

Posted - Dec 22 2010 : 11:16:25 AM Robin, I had a vocal cord dysfunction when I was 17 and had to have surgery to fix it. I had a hard time talking and sometimes it felt like my breath was slipping. You are in my prayers for a speedy fix for your problem.
