Posted - Jan 01 2011 : 5:38:09 PM I had written an update yesterday, and I guess it never went through! Donna is home from the hospital! She continues to improve a little every day, but is still very weak. The drs. have her on an anti-seizure medication for now, and she will have a repeat MRI next week. The fever went away last Thursday and has not come back, but they never did find out what caused it. She is having some issues with numbness and tingling still, on her right side, but we are starting to believe that may be from the epidural. She has a small tumor in her brain, which, thankfully is benign, but may be growing and the cause of the seizures. We are all praying there are some answers soon, and that she is able to recuperate at home. She and I and the whole family appreciate your prayers! Thank you! Jan 5- Yesterday my daughter developed a sudden temperature of 105. They immediately took her for a spinal tap and assumed meningitis. The results have come back negative however. She has some sort of infection, but they can't find out where and what, and is still running a temp. I haven't talked to her yet this morning, but last night she was pretty discouraged and wants to come home. She is still having small seizures. I am now staying at her house with the 3 older kids. They have been good, but none of us sleep well at night. They will be doing a pelvic ultrasound today, and possibly another MRI to find out if she has a uterine infection and also to try to see where the seizures are originating from. We all appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers! It looks like the anesthesiologist made a big mistake when he administered my daughters Epidural. She had so much spinal fluid leaking, that her brain essentially put out a red flag with all the symptoms she had. They are still running tests, making sure she doesn't have any more seizures or a stroke, but she still has a headache and her right leg is still weak although improving. They saw a shadow on her MRI which could mean any number of things, but might not be bad, we will find out later. I am on my way up there now, and probably won't be home for a few days, but I will update when I know anything. Thank you all so much! Update- Jan.2. My daughter had a seizure last night before they did the MRI. She has had some numbness, tingling and droopiness on the right side of her body, but they feel she has not had a stroke. The MRI seems to have come back normal, showing no stroke, aneurysm or tumor, but they still are trying to figure out what's going on. They should be talking to the neurologists this morning, who will decide where to go from here. There is a possibility that she has bacterial meningitis from the epidural, something that they will look into more this morning, but I believe that they started antibiotics right away as a precaution. I did talk to my son in law just a little while ago, and he said she has improved somewhat this morning, but she is very worried about the kids(who are all fine!), understandable. They wouldn't let them keep the baby with them, so a friend has him with her. He is such a laid back little guy, as long as he has a full belly, he is happy! We have decided that if she doesn't go home today, I will go down there later and stay as long as needed. We will just all pray that I don't get sick and pass it on. I'm just so worried about my daughter, and we are all just praying that it is something temporary like nerve damage from the epidural, still not great, but easier to deal with than anything serious. Thank you all for your prayers! It means to much to me to know you are all here thinking of us and praying for us. As a side note, my life has calmed down recently, things had smoothed out, I've been enjoying my chickens and my family. What a roller coaster life can be sometimes! :) My 2nd daughter had her 4th baby on Monday the 27th. Mom and baby did well, even though baby Elijah weighed a whopping 10 lbs. 12 oz.!! Over the past week my daughter has had worsening headaches and when she woke up this morning, she had a very loud rushing noise in her ears. She went right into the emergency room, and 2 hours ago they sent her by ambulance to a bigger city hospital. They thought at first she either had the headache from the epidural she had during labor, or possibly was having a stroke, so they did a CT scan. Now at the bigger hospital they want to do an MRI, and are bringing in a neurologist. I'm so worried about her right now. Her husband is there, with her and the baby, my middle daughter, who is a nurse is up there too, and there are friends staying with my 3 other grandchildren. I can't go down there yet, because unfortunately while I was at my other daughters house, my grand daughter threw up....the stomach bug that we thought had missed her decided to make a comeback, and of course I won't know if I get it, or am contagious until probably Monday or Tuesday. We have all decided it's best if I stay away at least until then. I just wanted to ask for prayer for my daughter.
