My 10 year old son, Danny boy, is having one kidney removed next week. It is swollen very large because it doesn't work and they are taking it out.
This is a good time to ask for prayers. I feel bad that I've not been following others to pray for them....these topics can get depressing.

Please add Danny Boy to your prayer lists and encourage us like farmgirls do.
thanks,

Hi Linda, That is so awesome! I had to have a major incision, so glad he just had the little puncture wounds. It is amazing what can be done now, and medicine keeps progressing every day.
Glad he is home, and praying he will be all better soon!
Hugs and continued prayers,
Ruth

He has no drain...home now. My computer is down...this is my cell.
They removed the non working kidney by robotics. He only has 4 small puncture wounds...he. will be fine with only one kidney.

Hi Linda, Thanks so much for the update - I'm sure he is in pain, but it will get better every day - I promise! Been there, done that!
Does he have to have a drain? That was the worst part for me was the hose sticking out of my back. Sure hope he doesn't have the drain!
Keeping you all in my prayers!
Hugs, Ruth

Linda,
Sending you and Danny warm thoughts and blessings! Hang in there, we Mom's are tougher than we know.

I saw my nephew have surgery at birth who had died and they brought him back, at 10 months, and every year there after until he was 5 yrs. old. Talk about learning who you are fast!

Hi Linda-
I will be keeping your son in my prayers. While my son's story is different (kidney cancer), he did have his left kidney taken out one month ago. He did remarkable after the surgery. It is amazing how quickly children can heal. Had he not had cancer and had to start chemo and radiation right away...he would have been all healed up and back to being his normal self within a few weeks.

It's always scary when a child has to go through any medical ordeal, especially surgery. So while my words can't calm your fears I do want to say that I wish you and your son all the best.

Thank you to everyone for all your prayers and thoughts.....keep praying...the surgery is next Thursday the 27th. I'm getting nervous now. :-(

We are finding out about more tests that need to be done and possibility of problems with the other kidney after having this one taken out. Only God knows the outcome and we just do the best we can and trust the doctors and the grace of God.

Linda, I will be praying for Danny and for you and the rest of the family. I had Kidney Cancer surgery 5 years ago, and they put a pain pump into my surgical site - I feel it was very helpful because I don't like IV pain meds. Not sure if that would work for a child or not or even if it is an option for him.
Keeping you in my heart any prayers!
hugs, Ruth
