We are needing prayers for my husband's sister, Patty. If I have time, I will come back and explain - it's not good news from the doctors.

I wanted to update you on dh's sisters. The one who was in the hospital for a weight loss surgery is out and has already lost 50 lbs. She will undergo a kidney transplant next. She is doing very well.

His other sister, the one with the trach, is now in a nursing home. She went from the nurses (at the previous hospital) telling us that hospice needed called in and there was no hope for survival, to now getting out of her bed and getting dressed, talking, clapping her hands, laughing etc. We are totally flabbergasted at her recovery. We are also upset the other hospital wasn't willing to help her recover. We are very thankful for your prayers.

I have an awesome update for you. Today, while dh's one sister has had surgery in one hospital, he is at the other with Patty.

We went from them telling us that she needed hospice and dying, to breathing on her own several hours a day (only because family is there and putting their foot down about poor and inattentive care). Dh just called and he said he went out and bought her a coloring book and crayons and she is coloring!!!! We are so excited about this turn around in her recovery. Thank you all for your prayers. If things continue to go well, she will go to a nursing home next and then back to her group home after that.

Just wanted to update you all and tell you thank you for your prayers.

Kristina.... how is Patty doing? Despite nursing care, I still feel she is a little angel of God and in His hands. I know that God is not a respector, but these loved ones are special. Still praying.

Kristina,

I am praying for Patty and sorry to hear all of this is happening. The Lord does have a plan and I agree with CJ, even though she may bot be able to totally comprehend who Jesus is, He knows her heart. My prayers for comfort and strength for the whole family.

Kristina,
My prayers are with Patty and her family . . and you. My son is 37 years old, has Down Syndrome and is not able to comprehend the depth of God and spiritual matters. I KNOW, without a doubt, that he will be carried safely home in the arms of Jesus, when it is his time to go home. Nonetheless, it is difficult for a person with a disability of this nature to comprehend the pain and suffering that they go through. It makes my heart break to think of how this is for her . . .and for everyone.
PRAYING!

My sil is not doing well. Last update was that she is not able to breath on her own. She did great one day, then the next 2 days were bad. They are still having trouble with mouthy nurses and bad care. Please pray, as dh said that his sister may be on her way to heaven soon.

Kristina, prayers!!! I truly think, and believe there is a scripture that eludes to this? God can reach our hearts, no matter what state we are in mentally or physically. Take care and keep us posted.

So sorry, Kristina. That's a very tough thing--especially when her comprehension is limited due to her disability. Will be thinking of you and the family during this very difficult time.

The details:

Her name is Patty. She went into the hospital and was diagnosed with pneumonia, then had to have a breathing tube inserted, then had to have a trachea and feeding tube - being transferred to 2 more hospitals. She is 62, and last night the family was told she has congestive heart failure and respiratory failure. If they take her off the ventilator, she has a 80-85% chance of dying. Several family members are heading back to the hospital today, in an attempt to speak with her original doctor and all her other doctors. Please pray for Patty, she is mentally retarded and I am not sure if she is capable of understanding (or even told) who God or Jesus is. She was born at home, and the cord cut off her oxygen, causing her brain damage. There is a huge communication problem with her and doctors etc.
