I had my surgery yesterday morning and it went well. I'm sore and groggy from the pain medicine and anesthetic. While I'm in a lot more pain than I expected (you use your tummy muscles for just about everything!) I'm glad to have it done I've got quite a stack of books and the good old internet to keep me busy Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers

24 May 2011 ~ I'm running around, as much as the pain and discomfort will let me, cleaning and trying to prepare for being somewhat laid up for a while. Cleaned the fridge, washed and freshened the things in the linen closet. Have moved things to be within easy reach. Have made stacks of easy to get into soft clothing for the first couple of weeks. LOL! Keeping busy helps with the pre-surgery jitters. My old body just doesn't do surgery gracefully...anyway, yesterday, the landlady's goats busted down my fence and made a mad dash into my yard, ripping into my flowers and tearing down my little trees and I had to go out and chase them out and call for help. I am a do-it-my-self kind of girl and I'll be glad when I can fix a fence by my self again! Hugs!

5/15/2011 ~ I saw the surgeon Friday afternoon and I'm scheduled for surgery at the crack of dawn on the 27th. I've got a 3 1/2 - 4 centimeter hole in my stomach muscle wall and am hurting quite a lot right now I'm going to be taking it easy for a while before and after surgery. Thank all of you for the thoughts and prayers.

Farmgirl hugs!

I'm a big scardy-cat when it comes to surgery! I've been having a lot of pain and swelling in my upper stomach around a previous surgery scar, so I saw my doctor Friday and she said that the the previous scar had healed improperly and that I had an incision hernia and referred me to a surgeon.
I have to make an appointment Monday to see the surgeon, and I won't know more until after I see him. So, I am posting more to get it off my mind than any thing. It's a comfort to have all of you wise and wonderful ladies to share my worries with. Thank you!

*Hugs*

Be sure to wear loose-fitting or elastic pants for awhile. My tummy hurt real bad after my gall bladder surgery. I went back to work too soon after the surgery, so take it easy for a while. Hope you enjoy your reads!

Hi Annika. I hope you are ok this morning. I'm so sorry the goats made a mess in your yard. I hope the owner will fix it for you. Those darn goats! How long before you can get back to normal?

Annika- I did the same thing!! Take a deep breath. The doctors are going to take good care of you and this surgery is a good thing! *hugs* I will keep you in my prayers and my heart. I completely empathize with you about the surgery jitters! Make sure you have lots of cool water to drink and pillows of various sizes so you can prop yourself up in different configurations. Do you have good books to read or audiobooks to listen to?

HI Annika, Still praying for you! Do you have a surgery date and time? As I was typing this, Philippians 4:6&7 came to mind. It says "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus". One of my favorite scriptures to stand on. The Lord has done a mighty work in my life regarding anxiety and I thank Him for that!
Hugs and prayers,
Ruth
