Posted - May 24 2011 : 10:16:46 AM My aunt is a nurse TuLsa Ok. Overflow patients are being sent to Tulsa. She is having a hard time, in her heart, with the number of unknowns. Children with no parents in the same hospital... Yesterday I got this message from a girlfriend, "please please help me lift up a dear friend who lives in Joplin. She is in the hospital very badly injured. Her 4yo is also injured, and was sent to a different hospital. She has no information other then there are injuries. Her 9 yo did not survive."
I wanted to post this yesterday, but I couldn't type it. My heart broke so immensely when I realized the depth of this, when it wasn't a far off reality. I'm a mother. It would be nothing other than a literal Hell on earth to be in the hospital, severely injured, unable to leave, have your hurt and terrified 4 year old hurt, and in a different hospital, you, the mother, not knowing your babies condition, or even where they are; all while suffering the agony of the death of your oldest child. This is real. This is how devastating this tornado was. This is a world changing, life shattering event. I know we know this, but even with what happened in Japan, I felt for the people, of course I did, but the solid heart wrenching reality eluded me. It was sad. It was far away. The personal stories never made it to me. This time, the story of this disaster struck family, the stories from my aunt... I know God has a plan. I know He can lift these families up. Please pray with me, that God will hold these people in His hand, and people will see Him and His grace. Pray people will come to Him, in this terrible time.
The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Posted - May 23 2011 : 10:18:10 PM Oh my gosh - I did finally get to see news reports about this tonight. I still can't believe what my eyes are seeing. Those poor people. And the report is they may have more tornadoes on the way. Dear God, please help and protect them. Mary Beth - what can we do to help at this point - is there anything? We will be praying, too, for sure. Hugs - Nini

Posted - May 23 2011 : 5:56:11 PM I can't believe the devestation I saw on TV. I've been through Joplin on numerous occasions; we've stopped there to eat en route to Texas, and my parents have spent the night there coming back from Texas. It just makes you want to cry. Praying for everyone affected by this tornado--how could one tornado be so destructive? cindy

Posted - May 23 2011 : 5:40:01 PM I just found out that my cousins lost everything. They were all together in their bathtub and I guess had a mattress over them. They're house is gone. It's am miracle they are still here. When I saw - or heard - the video of the workers who had jumped into the walk-in cooler as their only course of action and as they screamed, prayed to Jesus and then told each other how much they loved each other, I bawled. People really do know who is in control when soemthing like that happens. And they prayed!!
