Posted - Apr 29 2013 : 08:42:46 AM This morning our local farmers market burned down. I am so sad. I feel sorry for all of the local vendors who lst many of their wares.
This is the picture that one of the news girls posted...please say a little prayer for these sweet people. Not only is it the farmers market but, the 4-h children also use this building for the poultry, rabbit, and small anilmal showing at the fair. I remember showing here when I was younger.
Thank-you girls.
May 5th Yesterday, all of our prayers were answered!
They had the market under the grandstand and on the lawn. There hasn't been such a large crowd attend...EVER! Thank heavens the building was insured and the fairboard has vowed to have it in place for the fair so the 4H children will be able to show their animals.
As for the vendors they seemed to take it all in stride...brought what they could make in a week. One sweet lady told me she felt like a success as she never sold out of anything and yesterday she was going to! I bought a small pillow from her that said "sometimes you just gotta laugh."
Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers...I know they are appreciated.

Posted - May 06 2013 : 1:29:22 PM Yes, CJ, it was so nice to see everyone on Saturday! I believe the community support lifted their spirits. It was like a festival of sorts and definitely a blessing!
Their get-r-done attitude really shone through! I still smile when I think about how excited the ladies were, when they saw their wares flying off the tables!I just love those ladies...so inspiring!!!
I told a couple of the ladies that prayers had been sent up for them from ALOT of farm girls, across the country. Their response was, "Bless their hearts."

My thoughts and prayers are with your community. Seems as if there has been so much tragedy in the past few weeks. We all need to join in prayer for so many things.

Posted - Apr 29 2013 : 5:57:23 PM My hubby lost some of his woodturnings in a fire in a gallery last summer . . . it was an arson fire. And, because it was arson I don't think the matter has been settled yet. It is heartbreaking. Hopefully, Pamila, there will be some insurance coverage . . hopefully. Praying! CJ

Posted - Apr 29 2013 : 12:36:45 PM This market was open every Saturday. The building housed all of the artists and their wares...handmade furniture, quilts, dolls, jewelry, etc.. There was also food vendors in there as well. I think most of the artists left their items in there from week to week. I just keep thinking of them, each and every person is so sweet and kind...
It said on the news that 70 vendors lost thousands of dollars in merchandise. I just can't imagine...I attended every week and tried to support local as much as I could. Thankfully, no one was injured. The fire departments did a good job getting it out quickly, as the cattle barn is not far from this building. I am sure they appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers...for many,I believe, this was how they earned their living.
