Posted - Feb 24 2008 : 4:22:15 PM I posted pictures of some embroideries that I made this week. I used old quilt pieces for the backs, and tea stained them all. I think I will add some buttons and do-dads to them tomorrow. I was thinking about making a small quilt, maybe with just small squares to start with. I would like to make a crazy quilt, but I can't work it out in my mind how to put the pieces together. So many raw edges right? Seems like I would be crazy before the quilt! NANCY JO

Posted - Feb 26 2008 : 07:43:33 AM You girls are really making my head to big for a hat!! Sue, most of the things I have made in the last few weeks are not that big so don't take me to long. I really don't think I'm that good at it, I don't know how to do all those old time fancy stitches.I just use small stitches and follow the pattern. NANCY JO

Posted - Feb 26 2008 : 07:20:16 AM i enjoy, so much, looking at your talent in making the most beautiful items. you are soooooo creative and skilled. i absolutely LOVE that pillow with the tea pot on the front in particular. how long does it take you to make these things??? and did you just learn how to embroider by yourself or did someone teach you? |

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 6:27:27 PM Nancy Jo - your embroidery just gets better and better.
By the way, the whole notion of a crazy quilt is that it holds no plan or pattern. It just goes crazy. So let loose, and put one piece of fabric to the next and keep going with total abandon, and you will end up with a true crazy quilt.

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 5:55:23 PM Those are just beautiful embroidered pillows. Thanks for sharing them. I used to be afraid of crazy quilting too, but I started making pillows and they came out quite well. If I can find the ones I didn't give away I'll put them on my Photobucket site. Judith Montano has written several books about crazy quilts and they are very good, very helpful. I am quite addicted to crazy quiolting, probably because I am already crazy. Your work is just lovely. Karin |
