Posted - Jun 04 2009 : 08:05:56 AM I was cleaning out our barn yesterday, and looked in my cedar chest. Inside I found a rag rug I'd started, a quilt that needs to be taken apart and remade with new batting(this quilt was started 90 years ago by my great grandmother. She made the squares. My grandma was supposed to sew them into a quilt, but never did. I found them in her cedar chest and finished the quilt, but stupidly listened to a neighbor and used a thermal blanket for batting. It fell apart) and also a crazy quilt made by my other great grandma, that needs repairing in a couple of places. How exciting!!!!!!! |

Posted - Jan 17 2010 : 4:48:46 PM Thanks! Wow, I sure owe MaryJane a big hug for the instructions on how to fix this crazy quilt. Could not have done it without "Stitching Room" and the latest MJF magazine!

Posted - Jan 17 2010 : 2:53:09 PM It just has several torn or frayed patches, and I am taking the quilt repair advice from the magazine, and covering the old patches, then feather stitching around them so they'll match.

Posted - Jun 05 2009 : 5:58:58 PM I definitely will post some pics! Right now I am just finishing up the rag rug, and embellishing my denim jacket with some eyelet on the sleeves. (Can't wait till my patch gets here) Then I will get to work on the quilts! And don't worry, your cross stitch stuff will reappear. I lost the crazy quilt in the garage for 15 years! Then lost it in the barn for several more. |

Posted - Jun 04 2009 : 12:20:31 PM What fun. I hope we get to see pictures of your family treasures...don't wait til they are done, I want to see before and after please. I had a couple old cross stitch things made by relatives but somewhere through the years they disappeared. I still hope they may turn up someday, it is such a wonderful thing to have these little family masterpieces,
