Posted - Jan 06 2010 : 1:18:43 PM Hi Ladies! My name is Linda, I'm new. Does anyone know of an easy pattern for the fingerless gloves? I am just getting back into knitting. I need simple directions that can be done on 2 reg needles? Have not learned to master knitting in the round or double point yet.Any ideas would be appreciated |

Posted - Jan 07 2010 : 9:15:47 PM I knit mittens with two needles, and after I knit the thumb, I do a rib stich up the rest of the mitten, and bind off where ever I want the glove to end. I knit to the end of the little finger or more, and I can fold back the tips when I need my fingers.

Posted - Jan 07 2010 : 10:48:57 AM Sheila they are NOT hard at all. I believe they are easier than socks lol (never tried socks, just the idea of knitting with more than 2 needles scares me duh lol)

Posted - Jan 06 2010 : 3:07:12 PM I made 2 pairs with these directions: Worsted weight yarn on size 7 or 8 needles ( I used 7's ) Cast on 29 stitches Knit 3 inches in garter stitch ( knit both sides, no purling) Then knit 6, bind off 5 stitches, knit across Next row knit 18 , make 5, knit to end ( I used the " backward loop method" to make the 5 stiches. I also reinforced around the thumb when the mitts were done- to pick up any loose areas.) Then knit 3 inches, bind off. Do the second one the same. Sew a seam on the long edges- NOT the cast on/ bound off 29 stitches Make sure you are going to end up with a right and a left by being sure you have chosen a " right side and wrong side" , and that the thumb opening works on the hand it is meant to fit. The seam ends up along your palm. ( The pattern does not make that clear, but just be aware!) Good Luck!! ~ Mary LD
