Posted - Jan 17 2010 : 09:38:14 AM I am SO excited! I learned to knit when I was a little girl, but never made more than dishcloths. I haven't picked up a pair of knitting needles in 30+ years. In November, I decided I needed a quiet craft for the evenings and thought I could learn to knit again. I made LOADS of dishcloths, coffee cup cozies, and a couple of scarves for Christmas gifts. After Christmas I wanted a bigger challenge so picked up a pattern for socks and I fished my first pair of socks last night!!! They're not "slipper" socks either, I made them from super fine wool! They fit and everything. I'm going to take a class next month and tackle a Dale of Norway Olympic sweater next. I knew you girls would appreciate my excitement over completing a project using a new skill, so thanks for letting me share

Posted - Jan 17 2010 : 6:43:59 PM Kelly, Congratulations on your first pair of knitted socks!! Will you be posting a picture? We'd love to see them! I can crochet but not knit, I make my stitches way too tight. Don't have time right now, too much going on taking care of my grandmother and helping out my parents, plus, plus, plus. Please let us know how the sweater turns out. Cindy

Posted - Jan 17 2010 : 09:44:33 AM Congrats on finishing your first socks. Isn't it fun? I love knitting socks. I'm sure you will sail through the sweater with no problems. The best thing to do with something new is just jump in and give it a try. Kudos to you for sticking with it.
Blessings, Sheri
