Posted - Feb 20 2010 : 12:43:15 PM I am not the best seamstress - very much a novice. I am cleaning out my craft room and came across a bag of my dad's old white hankerchiefs. Apparently at one time I thought I'd use them for something crafty. Well, years have gone by and I have no idea what to use them for. I know a lot of you gals are creative - any ideas? Remember - I am not a good seamstress.

Posted - Feb 20 2010 : 5:01:01 PM That is a good idea Grace.
I would sew or pin them together in a row for a window valence... Also plain straight seams to make a sweet pillowcase.
You could mail them to a farmgirl and ask her to sew up an apron out of them for ya!
You could put one in a frame or embroider hoop for a wall hanging.
I like things that make me remember someone. If you have a pic of dad then use one or more for the border and put his pic in the middle! I'd do something like that...fit in a large frame and just fold the hankies to fit.

Posted - Feb 20 2010 : 1:26:41 PM hey Kristen, I have seen "dolls" made from them... You center the hankie, stuff it, & tie it off like a puff to make the head...then you can stitch on a face.or just add wee buttons for eyes only..you could stitch the hem of the hankie(before stuffing the head) to make a sweet motif around the hem.. I had a stitchery kit that I gave away last year, that was a "Angel Hankerchief" doll. It is on my blog back in the "older posts" section....it might help give you an idea. Have fun what ever you do.
