Posted - Aug 08 2011 : 07:22:56 AM What is everyone working on for craft related items? Currently I am working on four cross stitch items (either for charity or birthday gifts). I need to start working on two others. I have a ways to go on them though to get them completed. Here are the photos so far (one of them I don't have a pic of):
This is a Winnie the Pooh bookmark that I am making for charity;

This is a bookmark for my mil for her belated birthday (it is a little blurry and I started on a flower underneath the K)

My husband and I anniversary is coming up and we both like the show Dexter, so here is a cross stitch item so far (I will be making a cross stitch item of our wedding for either his birthday or for christmas)

Posted - Sep 11 2011 : 09:33:44 AM you will have to tell me how the bobbin lace goes. I have a kit (although I heard it has been nicknamed the nightmare kit) but haven't tried it yet. I love lace! there is supposedly a bobbin lace teacher nearby me but not sure how much she charges.

Posted - Sep 11 2011 : 04:54:15 AM after over 2 years of not figuring out how to bobbin lace & the investment in the materials I finally found a get video on the web that helped so I have been practicing that, I am also using my round loom to make a winter hat that has a button for the neckline area...when not using it as a cover you can use it as a neck warmer...so far so good, its my first & I am using no pattern... other project not related to sewing is I am extending my chicken coop another 6 ft so that I can add the basement chickens into the big coop area...they will have a wall separating them & a separate run since the 2 roosters will fight....motivation for that is slow coming but I hope to get it done soon as I want them in there before the 1st snow up here.....Michele'

Posted - Sep 09 2011 : 9:36:41 PM Here is the most recent cross stitch item I am making. It will be a cat teacup that will be donated to a charity group. Eventually it will be put with other teacup cross stitch items others have made into a quilt for a senior citizen. I think the lady who receives the quilt will enjoy it. I just need to get it done by the 15th.

Posted - Aug 31 2011 : 07:22:04 AM I am sewing, sewing, sewing, making dolls to sell at our fall festival the first weekend in October. I am also teaching my great neice to sew. Pray for me. And I have a Thanksgiving horn of plenty, tatting and whatever else I can find time to do. Can you tell I like to craft? LOL

Posted - Aug 30 2011 : 6:33:12 PM this was my gift I made for my husband on our anniversary. We are both Dexter fans and originally it wasn't going to be a anniversary gift but I completed it first. He liked it, although I think next time he wants one that he can put in his office at work.

Can't wait to see others pics when available. I need to finish the Dexter cross stitch today, as it is our anniversary tomorrow. His gift was originally going to be a birthday gift later on, but I decided to give him the Dexter one earlier instead.

Posted - Aug 26 2011 : 05:30:55 AM Have LOTS of projects going but currently I am crocheting Christmas gifts and doing embroidery for that also. I have an ongoing cross stitch. I have been working on it, on and off for years,yikes! But I picked it back up again. It is nine little pictures of different areas of a farm. When it is finished it makes one big picture. I think it was designed so that either the whole picture could be done or it could be a row of three or just one individual and they would still all look complete that way. It is on 28 count so I had to invest in a magnifying glass to help me out. Also sewing a dress for my granddaughter.

Posted - Aug 23 2011 : 12:53:48 PM I have a few projects that I am currently working on. I have a cross stitch of a teddy bear sitting in a chair that is about 3/4 done, fixing my sons afghan that I made for him when he was a baby (13 years ago), a rug that I am crocheting with dishrag yarn, and my knitting. I just taught myself how to knit so I am making strips to stitch together as an afghan. Each strip is a different color, and apparently I am pretty slow because it is taking FOREVER to get through a small (5oz I think) skein of yarn. Maybe it won't make it into an afghan after all, maybe they will be scarves - we'll see.... I have a bunch of other unfinished projects that I will pull out and work on if I want something else to do. I am also always scrapbooking as well. |

Posted - Aug 17 2011 : 11:03:19 AM thanks, vmfein. I taught myself to tat last summer (after a week of chucking the shuttle across the room and the cat using it for a hockey puck as a result) and finally mastered it a few months ago.

Posted - Aug 17 2011 : 10:55:10 AM I love tatting and lace. I tried it with the shuttle and found for me that the needle tatting is easier. I am teaching myself so I haven't made anything yet, just practicing. I love dishcloths as well. Good luck at the festival!

Posted - Aug 17 2011 : 10:51:53 AM Working at shuttle tatting a doily and numerous earrings/lace by the yard for a series of upcoming festivals in September that I have promised to do demos in tatting and crochet for. I'm also going to make several crocheted sponges and dishcloths for selling at the festivals, I think....I could at least get some halfway decent gas money out of it!
