Posted - Apr 16 2012 : 06:23:33 AM My first love is Cross Stitching. I am determined to learn to knit this year even if I just manage to knit a scarf or two I would be thrilled.
But cross stitching is my first love.
What is your craft of choice?

Posted - Apr 19 2012 : 2:17:36 PM If I had no problem with time and doing those pesky chores and had plenty of money I'd be quilting most days, when I got a bit bored doing that I'd probably be knitting/crocheting or trying to paint (I'm not very good but I sure like the One Stroke method). After that would be making cards. And yes, gardening can be creative too so add that in the mix.

I use saddle leather for hinges for many different things, boxes, books, baskets, etc.
Here's a page from a google search that has many, many different applications.
https://www.google.com/search?q=leather+hinges&hl=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=VCeQT7H7K6WqiQKC2ZzpAg&ved=0CHkQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=632
And here's a link to ehow on how to make them. It's really simplified, but you can expand it from here.
http://www.ehow.com/how_5627877_make-leather-hinges.html
If you use a router to cut away some of the wood, the leather hinge can set into the wood and look very smooth.

Posted - Apr 18 2012 : 7:15:12 PM Karen, have you ever considered making leather hinges? If made with the right leather, they can be beautiful on woodwork.

Posted - Apr 18 2012 : 1:14:49 PM Woodworking is my favorite. I'm also hoping to take a workshop or two in metalworking so that I can eventually make my own hardware (hinges, pulls, etc.). Also, I want to learn to sew leather, also to complement my woodworking.
And, I love to knit and do counted cross stitch. It never ends! I like what Annie said about loving best what she's working on at the time... That's a good outlook and one I think I'll try to adopt. Karen

Posted - Apr 18 2012 : 11:52:33 AM I'm with all of you - can't pick just one. Right now I'm very much into embroidery. Before that it was knitting. But also love to sew, do punch needle and locker hooking. My next "learning experience" will be with tatting - picked up books, DVD, thread and needles. But have to finish my dish towels I'm embroidering for some g-friends coming out this summer. Guess what I love the best is what I'm working on at the current moment in time. |

Posted - Apr 17 2012 : 2:22:18 PM Sheila, saw a poster online the other day that says "Gardening is cheaper than therapy. And you get tomatoes." Crafting/creating is the same way!
I'd have to say sewing/quilting, crocheting and knitting. I also make cards and love to do faux-finish and decorative painting. I will also gladly spend great amounts of time seeing what will play nicely with glue. I'm always trying new ways to do old tricks with each of those, and the latest "obsession" has been mug mats and mini-quilts.
