Posted - Aug 13 2004 : 09:18:05 AM Hi girls. Just thought I'd confess that I seem to have become a tv groupie for this cooking show on PBS. It's the only one I really enjoy... such a straight forward and practical approach to making everyday type foods that we all enjoy. I especially enjoy the product tests that they do, too. I have heard that it's PBS' most popular cooking show, and it is certainly mine. http://www.americastestkitchen.com/
I also enjoyed the Napa Valley kitchen show, but my PBS stations don't carry that one anymore, unfortunately. http://www.napastyle.com/tv/mcsnapa/mcsnapa.jsp
Do any of you have inspirational favs too?

Posted - Jul 12 2005 : 11:32:42 AM Clare -- I just love that show. I used to watch The Food Network all the time when we had cable. Now I watch stuff on PBS and enjoy it more without the commercials. On Saturdays starting at 10 AM on OPB my favorite gardening, sewing, and cooking shows are on until 2. That's the only time I ever sit down that long to watch TV! And sometimes I don't watch those either.

Posted - Jul 12 2005 : 06:55:25 AM I have two of the books. (The Best Recipe and another book which is a combination of The Cook's Bible and The Dessert Bible)
The REAL thrill is when you can look at one of their creations and say, "You know, I don't like the way they do this. I'm going to do it differently." After all, the best recipe for any given dish is always a matter of opinion, and we have to trust our instincts.
I usually have good results with the recipes, but I find that they can be unnecessarily complicated at times. |

This is one of my favorites! I really appreciate that they test so many different ways, saves the rest of us lots of time and trouble and more than likely $$$ as well. Never heard of Napa Valley Kitchen show but sounds like one i would enjoy. We mainly get the nationwide feed from satelite so we don't often get to see the more regional shows. I like the Cooks Illustrated web site too :-)
