Posted - Sep 05 2011 : 06:37:26 AM What is your favorite apple pie recipe? I had a recipe I used of my mom's years ago and now I don't have it and can't get it again so I need a new one! I tried making a few pies and just didn't care for how they turned out.
The last time I came to my fellow farmgirl sister's for kitchen help you ladies helped me out hugely with pie crust and now I can successfully make a good pie crust again, thanks a million for that! Now I need your help making a good apple pie, one that tastes like Grandma used to make it, not Saralee :)
Thanks in advance!

Posted - Sep 06 2011 : 4:00:42 PM My favorite pie recipe is actually called Danish Apple Bars. You make them in a cookie sheet. They are wonderful. The crust is 3 cups flour, 1 cup butter, 1 egg,tsp salt, and enough milk added to that egg to make 1/2 cup. Mix it up like any pie crust, divide in 2 and roll out to your cookie sheet size. Put 1 cup of crushed cornflakes on the bottom crust add 8 cups of apples (or so), 1 cup sugar and some Cinnamon. bake at 375 for 45 minutes.. drizzle a glaze of powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk, over the top after it is cool. michele |

Posted - Sep 06 2011 : 07:51:23 AM I loved Pioneer Woman's Apple Pie. Also, if you search allrecipes.com for apple pie, and then sort by rating, you'll usually come up with a winner!

Posted - Sep 05 2011 : 07:53:54 AM I featured my apple pie on my old blog a while back...I'll be reposting it sometime to my new and improved blog (with better pictures, hopefully,) but here's the older link for you now: http://custerfamilyfarm.com/blog1/index.php?blog=3&title=as_american_as&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
My grandmas never makes apple pie, and I've never had Saralee's...so I'm not sure where this one falls!!! We like this one, though! :)
