Posted - Oct 23 2011 : 4:31:29 PM I think I'm going to dive in and make real, honest-to-goodness croissants. It does not look easy but I love the things. Anybody make them? Any secrets?! :-)

Posted - Nov 04 2011 : 07:35:20 AM Oh, making your own croissants sounds so fun! I hope they turn out! I made english muffins years ago. Was so proud of them, and they were yummy. Croissants sound so delicate.

Posted - Nov 01 2011 : 6:57:29 PM I have a croissant recipe from college. I've made it a couple of times. Very time-intensive. But the end result is to die for. They taste like the ones I bought in France.

Posted - Oct 24 2011 : 06:56:09 AM Thanks all!! You have given me confidence!! I am at the point where the "package" has been rolled once and is in the frig waiting for the second rolling. I am just doing plain this time, Wendy, because I am wanting to see if I can make the croissant crust for "souffles" similar to Panera Bread's. And I just love plain croissants with butter and strawberry jam. Oh yum. I do have the recipe for filling with chocolate too. Anyway, I will let you all know how they turn out. I am taking pictures as I go in case they are worth putting up at the blog!! :-) We shall see.

Posted - Oct 24 2011 : 05:36:00 AM I have made them also. Very good. Not hard at all, just a lot of steps, rolling and letting sit in fridge. The work is worth it though. Michele |

Posted - Oct 23 2011 : 5:47:53 PM I've made them a few times and they turned out great! Not good for you, but very, very yummy! Once I got going with them, they weren't nearly as difficult as I thought they would be, but they are a bit time consuming because you roll them out several times over and refrigerate in between. That's what it takes to make all those layers.
I can't remember which recipe I used last, but my boys are wanting me to make a batch again, so I'll need to dig it out. Are you going to make plain or filled? I'm thinking of trying chocolate filled ones on my next go around.
