Posted - Jul 05 2012 : 5:08:33 PM I planted strawberry plants in my garden spring of 2011. They gave a couple berries last year, but not much as expected. This year they are going crazy! I've picked 2 quarts in the last 2 days! I'm so excited to finally have my own productive strawberry patch just like my grandma had when I was growing up. We've been eatting them fresh from the garden while still warm from the sun! Oh my THAT is what I remember strawberries are supposed to taste like!!!! Now I'm saving some up in the fridge for a couple days and I hope to have enough to make JAM! Oh I can hardly contain myself with anticipation to see homemade jam from home grown strawberries sitting in my pantry. Its a dream two years in the making!

Posted - Jul 13 2012 : 4:55:36 PM I made my first batch of strawberry jam today with my strawberries. They have to set on the counter now until tomorrow but it looks like it all set (fingers crossed). My kids and I were eatting the leftovers from the pot with spoons when it was still warm - it was so YUMMY! I am so excited! I think I might see about entering some in at the county fair!
