Strain the juice your clams were steamed in 2-3 time to remove grit and sand. Freeze in whatever. Increments that are convenient for you. I freeze mine in 2 cup increments. Use in chowders or other seafood recipes. Dump left over juice in garden plot.

Posted - Mar 17 2013 : 4:52:37 PM Hello,
YOu are right I do not have fresh clams to make clam juice. we have been buying the little bottles in the grocery store. I wondered how it was made. Maybe I will have to make a trip to Maine to pick up some clams this summer so I can freeze the liquid.
I did boil fish heads to make fish broth. My dd and I had a good time inviting the boys into the kitchen to show them the heads boiling and hearing their squeals of disgust.
