Posted - Sep 02 2013 : 4:30:23 PM I have a hand grinder for processing relishes and and such things that need grinding. Sometimes a black substance from the grinder itself. It doesn't change the flavor any but looks nasty. The grinder is grinder is magic chef from the 79's when everything was Avacado green. Any thoughts?

Posted - Sep 10 2013 : 7:18:43 PM It probably is aluminum. It started reacting with onions but not zucchini. It's a 1979's model. Got it out of my grandmothers stuff after she died. It makes me feel like she's there when I use it. I only use it for relishes.

Posted - Sep 08 2013 : 5:55:25 PM It seems like a grease or some type of corrosion. I don't grease the grinder. Do you think I should?

Posted - Sep 07 2013 : 9:03:00 PM I would not use it until I knew it was 100% clean. Can you take it completely apart and do that? |

Posted - Sep 06 2013 : 08:13:30 AM Is it black like grease maybe? Some grinders have oil or grease that comes off of them. Unless it is like flakes of black. That could be part of something that has corroded maybe and is flaking off when it is used. Just a thought since you said it was from the 70's.
